Sedlar trails by eight in Women’s Am with one day to go

By Tom King - Staff Writer | Aug 7, 2019

Top local golfer Chelsea Sedlar has an uphill climb if she wants to capture this year’s NHWGA’s State Amateur championship at Breakfast Hill Golf Club in Greenland.

Sedlar, playing out of Passaconaway Country Club, goes into today’s third and final round at plus-2, in second but also some eight shots in back of tourney leader Lauren Thibodeau of Windham Country Club.

Thibodeau stands at minus-6, after shooting a pair of three-under 69s on Monday and Tuesday.

Sedlar fired an even par 72 on Monday, but came in with a two-over 74 on Tuesday, bogeying the first, fifth and seventh holes.

Thibodeau had four birdies and a bogey on Tuesday, putting her in good position heading into the final day.

Abenaqui’s Dana Harrity is tied for third at plus-11 with Mindy Reid of Pembroke Pines, while rounding out the top five after two days is Cochecho’s Carys Fennessy (plus-13).

After Sedlar, the next highest local is Sky Meadow’s Lauren Erickson, in a three way tie for 11th at plus-20.
