Hanson’s Automotive 9, Jok’s Auto 8

Jok’s jumped out to an early lead and added five more in the fourth, but Hanson’s charged back with five runs in the last two innings to pull out the victory despite being out-hit 18-15.

Hanson’s got a home run from shortstop Ron Monteiro and pitcher Rick Carbonneau helped his own cause going 3 for 3. Ben Tosi and Charlie Mooradian got on board three times in four trips. Also helping the offense with two hits each were Frank Twardosky, Bill Ohm and Wayne Connor. On defense, outfielder Frank Groom made a nifty backhanded stab on a liner up the middle.

Jok’s got 3 for 4 efforts from first baseman Dick Brown, left fielder Les Johnson and third baseman Bill Mulley. Chipping in with a pair each were substitute shortstop Charlie Howe, pitcher Bob Lavoie and outfielders Paul Gauthier and Norm Harrison.

Amherst Auto 18, Dr. Dionne’s Seniors 8

The Autoworkers pounded out 28 hits in stunning the seniors with a lop-sided win. Lenny Rapone led the pack from the leadoff spot going 5 for 5. Ken Rousseau and Harold Murphy followed with 4 for 5 efforts. Also adding to the firepower was pitcher/manager Dale Stearns (3 for 4 and a walk) and Steve Coco (3 for 5).

DDS got two-hit performances from Dick Gillespie, Charlie Howe (double and triple), Wally Hedlund, Ron Lewis (triple) and Mike Malonson. DDS led after one but it was all AA after that.

Calvary Lock & Key 9, Pine St. Eatery 2

CLK came out hitting and led all the way. PSE got two runs in the first but the CLK defense slammed the door shut for the next six innings. CLK hitters were Bill Schofield (3 for 3), followed by Zeke Zarakotas, Al Ross, Dan Birck (double) and Rod Wood each going 2 for 3 each. Substitute Bob Lemieux also was 2 for 3.

The PSE gang collected 12 hits led by clean-up man Clarence Farwell (3 for 3) and rookie Bill Parker (3 for 3). Manager Paul Archer helped his team with a 2 for 3 day along with leadoff batter Bruce Landry.

M&N Sports 10, Calvary Lock & Key 7

M&N came out in a hurry and led 8-0 after two and blanked CLK until the fourth.

M&N collected 21 hits led by Don Fusco, Artie Digiovanni (3 for 4 and a walk each). New addition Lee Nadeau came through with three hits. Manager/ 2B George Mosnicka and outfielders Carl Seidel, George Donovan and John Poulos all went 2 for 3.

For CLK, Dan Birck was 3 for 4 while Zeke Zarakotas, clean-up batter Don LeBrun, outfielder Jim Noel and pitcher Ron Anderson all had two hits apiece.

Jok’s Auto 6, Dr. Dionne’s Seniors 5

Tied at three after one, both teams then chipped away with Jok’s pulling out the squeaker on 14 hits. Jok’s left fielder Les Johnson banged out a three-run homer in the first and added two walks later on. Dick Brown, manager Hap Webster, Paul Kaminski, Don McCLarren and substitute Jim Noel (OF) each went 2 for 3.

DDS pitcher Ron Lewis was 3 for 3 (two doubles), followed by Mike Malonson, John Cebrowski and Harold Weisman with two hits each.

Amherst Autoworks 7, Hanson’s Automotive 3

Although dropping in 14 hits vs. 11 for AA, Hanson’s just left too many men on base. AA took advantage of seven walks to pull it off.

AA leadoff batter Lenny Rapone and Harold Murphy each went 3 for 4, and slick fielding Steve Coco got two hits and two passes for his offense.

Hanson’s leadoff Ben Tosi did his job going 3 for 3. Jerry Ferullo, Ron Monteiro and lefty Wayne Connor each came away 2 for 3.

CAMPS

Basketball

Milford High School boys basketball coach Dan Murray is offering a Hoop Camp this summer for boys and girls ages 8 through 16 at Milford Middle School.

Camps will be held for two weeks, from June 28 through July 2 and from July 26 through July 30.

The fee is $125 for a one-week session. For more information, call 672-7140.

Field hockey

The annual Astros Shoot for the Stars field hockey camp will run the weeks of July 12 and July 19 from 8 a.m.-noon at Rider Field in Derry from Monday through Friday. Beginners to high school varsity players are welcome from grades 4-12. The cost is $100 for one week and $175 for two weeks and includes insurance, camper pack,and instruction.
