Patriots hope to keep the wedding bells ringing today
The commitment has been made.
No, no, the New England Patriots haven’t publicly decided as of last night on a starting quarterback for today’s game vs. the Cleveland Browns, be it Mac Jones or Bailey Zappe.
But owner Robert Kraft has decided on his personal life’s future. He married girlfriend Dr. Dana Blumberg in a reported star-studded ceremony in New York City with guests including some current and former Patriots players, including Tom Brady.
Now how can the Patriots disappoint the owner on such a special weekend, right?
Meanwhile all of New England is in suspense as to who the QB will be. The guess here is Mac Jones is simply not ready to go, and that the Patriots will opt for a healthy Zappe over a less-than-100 percent Jones. It makes sense to wait, there’s an extra day in the week coming up with the Patriots next hosting the Chicago Bears next Monday night.
Meanwhile, let the wedding gala continue:
PATRIOTS 24, BROWNS 13
A couple of years ago, it looked like the Browns were turning the corner, giving the Chiefs all they could handle in a playoff game. But alas, they turned into the Browns again, Brissett is their QB, and while they can run the ball they’ll have trouble scoring enough points while the Patriots and Rhamondre Stevenson, plus a scoring defense, take control.
BILLS 34, CHIEFS 27
The game Buffalo has been waiting for since losing an incredible contest in last year’s AFC playoffs. A lot on the line for the Bills because they’re the team that’s supposed to get to the Promised Land this year. The Chiefs, though good, were barely able to beat the Raiders last Monday night.
JAGUARS 27, COLTS 17
We nearly didn’t go with the Jaguars here, but then we remembered one important thing: The Colts can’t score. You see that Thursday night game 10 days ago? Jacksonville’s not great, but a Trevor Lawrence offense is better than one led by Matt Ryan at this late stage in his career, plus Colts will be without top running backs Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines. Two former Eagles coaches, head guy Doug Pederson vs. his offensive coordinator Frank Reich.
COWBOYS 20, EAGLES 17
It’s been a nice run so far for Jalen Hurts and the Birds, but Eagles won’t be able to fly against this Cowboy defense that has held opponents to just 14.4 ppg, second only to Bills and Niners (12.2). Wow.
CARDINALS 30, SEAHAWKS 17
C’mon, Arizona can’t be that bad, right? And Geno Smith can’t be that good, right?
Lot of pressure on Kyler Murray & Co. this week, and guess here is he stopped playing video games, studied film, and will respond.
DOLPHINS 29, VIKINGS 26
Reportedly Teddy Bridgewater and Tua Tagliavoa have cleared their protocols, but it’s likely to be Bridgewater against his former team. Heat gets to the Vikes as Dolphins snap their skid.
PACKERS 24, JETS 23
The Pack was in a London fog in the second half against the Giants, and these Jets are not a bad football team, their young players coming of age quickly. Enough to win at Lambeau? Probably not.
