MAY 6, 1952 – “The Milford Knights of Columbus bowling team topped more than 30 other teams at Manchester to win the first annual state K of C bowling tournament.

“Roy Proctor rolled the three-string high with 342, and the average for the Milford bowlers was more than 96 pins per string.

“Other members of the winning team were Karl Wheeler, captain; Joseph Swiezynski Kenneth O’Connell and Louis Aveni.”

MAY 7, 1962 – “A good-sized crowd was on hand yesterday to watch the opening of the softball season as the Monadnock Blocks of Keene eked out a 3-2 victory over Club National at North Common.

“Boston Celtics star Jim Loscutoff helped get the campaign underway and pitched to two Keene batters. He walked one and the second popped up.

“In the action proper, Club National was leading 2-0 until the sixth inning when the Blocks scored twice to knot the score and collected the winning run in the seventh.”

MAY 8, 1967 – “Is there no end to the superiority of Nashua High In the world of track? This was the question many were left asking themselves here Saturday after coach Fran Tate had driven his squad to their third victory in a row in the annual Clipper Relays against 15 other entries.

“In the order in which they were run, Jim Neville, Johnny Demers and Don Tyler to win the shot put with a total combined distance of 140 feet, nine inches.”

MAY 9, 1987 – “… Friday afternoon’s 8-2 mashing of highly regarded Londonderry at Keyes Field, the now 6-7 Milford High Spartans’ third win in their last four games, may just point them in the right direction to make a run in the state tournament.

” ‘Yes, this team can do it,’ says senior phenom Neal Huntington, bound for Amherst (Mass.) College next year. He impressed whatever scouts were present Friday with a 3-for-4, one-homer, three-RBI day.”

MAY 10, 1992 – “Life in Holland is agreeing with former Bishop Guertin High School pitching standout Walter Wrobleski, according to local baseball guru Bill Twomey, who helped get Walter the Dutch pro gig and is keeping close tabs on him.

“Wrobleski, at last look, was 20, ‘and that could mean bonus money, about $100 a win,’ Tomey said.”

MAY 11, 2011 – “Nashua North’s Isabelle Dunning, meanwhile, is glad she will be a part of the Quinnipiac University women’s soccer program next season, signing her letter of intent in a brief ceremony at Nashua North the other night. Her Titans coach, Dan Wyborney, feels she’ll be as successful in college as a goalie as she was in high school.

“It’s a good fit for her,” Wyborney said of Quinnipiac. “I’m excited for her. She’s a hard worker, very driven.’ “

MAY 12, 2017 – “Youth was served in the Nashua High School North-South Battle of the Bridge softball game on Thursday. It’s just that North’s youth was served a bit better by way of a 12-4 win at South Field.

“Both teams started freshman pitchers – and a combined nine freshmen overall – but North’s young hurler Emily Blondin checked the Panthers on two runs over six innings.”
