APRIL 8, 1947 – “Windy weather yesterday did not prevent candidates out for the Nashua High School football team from working out and indulging in a scrimmage session. The first practice session since last Thursday saw the boys off form as coaches Buzz Harvey and Tony Marandos put them through their paces.

“Preceding the scrimmage, Coach Harvey tried out his aerial attack using Leonard Curtis in the tailback slot, Kashulines at quarterback, Gamache at right half and Young at full. Three capable backs were used defensively to stop the attack. They were Eddie Dobrowolski at safety, Earle McKeown at left half and Ed Fraser at right half.”

APRIL 9, 1952 – “Despite loss of financial support by the original sponsor, a Nashua softball team will be entered in the newly organized Eastern Softball League and will play a full schedule at home and on the road.

“Reorganization of the softball club has been completed with ‘Chick’ Latulippe retained as manager and Charles Justice, All-American softball pitcher, filling the offices of business and booking

manager.”

APRIL 10, 1967- “In the recent Girls Catholic High School basketball playoffs, the St. Louis High Chargers emerged victorious with a 35-10 win over Presentation of Mary Academy.

“Pat Jean and Elaine Caron paced the victories with high-scoring efforts in both games.”

APRIL 11, 1977 – “Dale Metzler fired home a 20-footer from the left face-off circle with eight minutes gone in sudden death and goalie Jim Browder made 36 big saves in a sensational effort as the Skate 3 Huskies tipped the Fitchburg Whallopers 3-2 to even up the three-of-five NEJHL Wallace Cup series at one game each.”

APRIL 12, 1987 – “Who was that masked girl?

“That’s what the Manchester Central, West and Timberlane high school girls track teams must be thinking after Kris Janosky recorded four firs-place finishes to lead Nashua High School to victory in its season opener.

“… Janosky captured the 100-meter dash in 12.5 seconds, the 200 in 26.4, the 400 in 1:01.9 and the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 3-1/2 inches.”

APRIL 13, 1992 – “St. Patrick’s of Nashua reached the finals of the high school division in the New England CYO Basketball Championships on Sunday, but fell 69-53 to St. Gregory’s of

Danbury, Conn.

“Todd Eastman paced St. Patrick’s with 17 points and 18 rebounds, giving him 48 rebounds in the tournament. Brian Belzil added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Dennis Bonilla had eight points and Glenn Garner added seven.”

APRIL 14, 1982 – “Colts coach Jack McMahon couldn’t have asked for a better birthday present from his team than a city championship, and the Colts went out and got him just that Tuesday night. The South League champion Colts beat the North champion Flyers, 76-68, at Fairgrounds Junior High to win the City Senior Biddy Basketball championship.

“… The Colts’ Kevin Pollard opened the game by pulling down a offensive rebound and putting it back in for the first score. He went on to score six points in the period and 20 in the game.”
