OCT. 1, 1956 – “The Alvirne High soccer team notched its second win of the season to remain undefeated by white-washing Milford High, 4-0, at Hudson on Friday afternoon

“Ernie Rancourt led the maroon offensive, scoring on brilliant kicks in the second and fourth periods.

“Bob Gamache’s long kick hit the net in the third frame and Don Latour contributed the fourth goal in the final frame.”

OCT. 2, 1961 – “Thirty teams took part in the final golf event of the season at Riverside Golf Club yesterday as Virginia Rosytinis and Maurice Dion captured the scotch foursome by posting a 40.

“Other first-division winners were Frances Rigs and Frank Smith, 42; Eleanor and Mike Dell Isola, 43; and Lottie Wiggins and Ray Morin, 43.

“Second-division winners included Gail and Ray Brooks, 48; Eva and Leo Levesque, 51; Theresa and Jerry Levesque, 51.”

OCT. 3, 1981 – “The first night soccer of the year at Holman Stadium had a rainy debut Friday, but Alvirne and Londonderry high schools didn’t let it affect them. Alvirne whipped Concord in the first game, 5-2, and Londonderry nipped Bishop Guertin in an overtime nightcap, 3-2.

“The 5-1 Broncos got two goals from Micky Regan in a easy victory over the 1-7 Crimson Tide, although it was only 1-0 at the half.

“… Londonderry, now 7-1, earned its fifth straight win since it lost to Alvirne, 3-2, in overtime. Sean Foley scored with 1:09 to play in the second OT.”

OCT. 4, 1986 – “Senior setter Becky Lecius had 21 assists while the rest of her senior unit played well against a formidable Winnacunnet team as the Panthers improved to 8-2 on the season. Winnacunnet (9-2) fell to Nashua in two straight games, 15-13 and 15-11.

“Also playing well for Nashua were senior outside hitters Kelly Landry (nine service points, eight kills) and Carrie Fenton (eight assists, seven kills). Senior middle hitter Rachel Delacalzada had five assists and four service points.”

OCT. 5, 2001 – “Ryan Nicholson broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the 72nd minute to lift Souhegan to intra-class victory over Hollis Brookline on Thursday.

“The Cavaliers (9-4-1) took a 1-0 lead on Mike Sullivan’s goal on a penalty kick 10 minutes into the game. But Souhegan (9-1) tied it nearly 20 minutes later on Pat White’s goal.”

OCT. 6, 2006 – The sisters Drummond scored both goals for Nashua South to lead the Panthers to their third straight win in a 2-1 decision at Stellos Stadium against Manchester Memorial.

“Jana Drummond knotted the score at 1-1 with just under seven minutes to go, rallying from a deficit the Panthers had faced since before halftime. About five minutes later, Jess Drummond found the net for the clincher. Lianne Lippert made 10 saves for South (5-7).”

OCT. 7, 2011 – “After gaining 132 yards on 25 carries last Friday night in Concord, Nashua South senior running back Armond McRae spoke of the slick footing on the grass field in Concord. It didn’t stop McRae, but it might have slowed him down. There were no such footing issues Thursday night on the new turf at Stellos Stadium.

“In the first half of the Panthers’ 47-0 victory over cross-town rival Nashua North, McRae scored on touchdown runs of 55 and 48 yards and caught a 58-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Knight.”
