FEB. 27, 1971: “After jumping out to a 20-2 lead over Winnacunnet in the first four minutes of play, Nashua High sailed to an easy 87-59 win over the Warriors last night at the Panther gym.

“Despite being hampered by fouls early in the second half, Dave Clark pumped in 27 points to lead scorers. … The other half of Nashua’s ‘Dynamic Duo,’ Adam Gureckis, also had a fine night, scoring 29.

“Gureckis maintained the honor of being the leading Purple scorer this season as he now has 353 points in the 17 regular-season games.”

FEB. 28, 1976: “Christine Hogan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Hogan of Nashua and a student at Keene High School, has qualified for the 1976 AAU Indoor Long Course National Championships to be held at Long Beach, Calif., in April.

“Swimming at an AAU sanctioned meet at Springfield last weekend, Chris clocked a time of 2:07.8, smashing the required cut-off time by almost a full second.”

MARCH 1, 1986: “Chris Madigan of Nashua High School and Scott White of Bishop Guertin have been nominated for the McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Team.

“Madigan and White are among only 1,000 high school players in the nation nominated by the McDonald’s All-American Basketball Team Selection Committee. They are in the running to be among the players recognized by McDonald’s as the top 25 in the country.”

MARCH 2, 1991: Ending its regular-season on an eight-game winning streak, the Merrimack High School boys basketball team ran its record to 17-1 by defeating Portsmouth, 84-69.

“Offensively, it was another chapter in the long-playing hit entitled ‘The Matt Ripaldi Show.’ The junior guard hit his first five shots and never really cooled off, finishing with a game-high 33 points. But perhaps the biggest factor was Merrimack’s domination of the backboards, led by senior forward Sean Roberts’ 13 rebounds.”

MARCH 3, 1956: “Presentation of awards highlighted the wind-up luncheon of the Women’s Curling Clans yesterday at the Nashua Country Club.

“The Smith Trophy, awarded to the team winning the most games during the season, was presented to Mrs. Edward Gagnon. It marks the second consecutive year Mrs. Gagnon has skipped the winning rink. Her rink this year included Mrs. William Barker, Mrs. Rose Corey and Mrs. Roger Soucy.”

MARCH 4, 2006: “There could have been all kinds of emotion on the floor of Alvirne High School’s Steckevicz Gym on Friday night. The Broncos were saying good-bye to eight seniors while saying hello again to their former coach, current Bishop Guertin mentor John Fisher.

“But leave it to Cardinal Ryan Wholey to treat things like business as usual. Wholey scored 23 of his game-high 28 points in the first half, the Cards got off to an 8-0, 16-2 start, and never looked back en route to an 84-46 win.”

MARCH 5, 2011: “Bishop Guertin’s Emily Doran poked in a rebound from the right slot at 9:18 of the overtime period to give the No. 5 Cardinals a 5-4 Division I quarterfinal win over No. 4 St. Thomas/Dover on Friday.

“… Doran’s game-winner came after STA/Dover had carried most of the extra session, including two golden chances by Brenna Boulanger in close that BG goalie Sabrina Dobbins (40 saves) stopped.”
