Yes, the Brady Break beats the Rodgers Rate times 10

By Staff | Jan 25, 2021

The Buffalo Bills actually did themselves a favor by losing the AFC Championship Game to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night.

Sure, there’s pain. But they spared themselves the frustration of having to face Tom Brady again.

And probably losing to him in Super Bowl LV. On his home field, no less.

So how did you feel yesterday around 6 p.m., New England Patriot fans? Maybe a little better than Bill Belichick, although one wonders whether Belichick really cares one way or the other. We won’t really know because he likely had girlfriend Linda shut down her InstaFace account.

But get ready for the Brady Barrage. Yours truly is a little ticked because now the former Pats QB will have been at as many Super Bowls as this scribe has covered. Yes, roll your eyes.

It’s mixed emotions, right? Many of you are thrilled for Brady, but ticked that he’s doing it in another uniform. We’ve got news for you: Whether it was this season or next year, or even the year after, Brady was getting back to the big game, one way or another. Sunday’s 31-26 Tampa Bay win over the Packer just sped up the inevitable.

Really, it’s no coincidence, right? Brady never would have taken that poor excuse of a Patriots offense to the Super Bowl, but with the Bucs he had weapons, and he recruited two more (Rob Gronkowski and ugh, Antonio Brown). Brady was just the missing piece.

Of course, it seemed like old times in more ways than one on Sunday, as once again an opposing coach made a foolish strategic blunder. Green Bay’s Matt LaFleur broke Rule No. 1 : Never willingly give the ball back to Brady late in a close game; you’ll never see it again. So when he inexplicably didn’t go for it on fourth and goal with just over two minutes left, settling for a field goal while figuring his three timeouts would do their thing, he ticked off his QB Aaron Rodgers and played right into Brady’s hands.

So here we go. The rest of the nation is probably just sick of Brady already. But rest assured, pandemic or not, the New England Brady Bandwagon diehards will try to make it down to Tampa.

“It’s been a long process for the whole team,” Brady said. “Today was just a great team effort. We played sporadically a little bit, but the defense came up huge. We’re gonna need it again in a couple of weeks.

“Now we get a home game; who would have ever thought a home Super Bowl for us, but we did it.”

Obviously CBS is loving this, as it’s a great matchup, Brady vs. Patrick Mahomes.

The Brady Break prevailed over the Rodgers Rate.

Now, can it beat the Patrick Price?

You going to bet against it?

Didn’t think so.
