JUNE 22, 1960 – “Former Nashua High pitching star Tom Gondek last night pitched and hit the Nashua Dodgers to a 4-3 triumph over the Portsmouth City Club at Holman Stadium.

“Gondek scattered eight Portsmouth hits and held the visitors scoreless until the eighth inning and at the same time collected two of Nashua’s 10 hits to aid the cause.”

JUNE 22, 1965 – “A relatively quiet young man, who never was much for creating sensational newspaper headlines, but who had the desire and determination to overcome early stumbling blocks and develop into an outstanding football and track star is this year’s nominee as Nashua High’s Athlete of the Year.

“He is Mike Demers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Demers, 12 New Dunstable Rd.”

JUNE 22, 1985 – “Nashua’s Rick Hoffman, a senior outfielder, was named the most valuable player on the Bentley College baseball team.

“Hoffman, a Nashua High School graduate, tied the school record for doubles (12), added seven home runs and stole 16 bases, batting .349 with 22 RBIs. He also scored 22 runs for the 14-17 Falcons.”

JUNE 22, 2016 – “Nashua’s Fourth of July celebration is about more than independence and fireworks. It’s also a chance to shine the spotlight on the newest inductees to the Holman Stadium Sports Legends Hall of Fame.

“Capping the pre-fireworks program, the Lions Club’s Holman Stadium Sports Legends Hall of Fame induction of Ed, Adolph (Butch), Jim, Vito and John Kissell; the late Ray Oban, a former Boston Red Sox scout and the first baseball and pitching coach at Bishop Guertin; and broadcaster Ed Lecius, who joins his father, Edward F. Lecius, who was an inaugural inductee into the Hall.”

And a special submission from former Telegraph sports editor Greg Andruskevich:

JUNE 9, 1962 – “Nashua won the Class L baseball finals 21-3. Bobby Labreque struck out 22 batters pitching a one-hitter.”
