JUNE 18, 1960 – “Art Edstrom, physical director of the Nashua YMCA and director of the City Softball League, announces plans are progressing for the July 2 appearance of the King and his Court, a four-man softball team, which will play the Nashua All Stars in an exhibition at Holman Stadium.

“… Edstrom currently is in the process of selecting nine stars from the teams making up the City League.”

JUNE 18, 1965 – “J.F, McElwain’s Peter Dufour tossed a no-hit, no-run game lat night as he and his teammates blanked the LaFayette Club 3-0 to highlights the action in the South Little League

“During his performance he walked one man and struck out four, receiving flawless support in the field.”

JUNE 18, 1975 – “Johnny Most, voice of the Boston Celtics for 23 years, will be the featured speaker at tomorrow night’s second annual New Hampshire Sportswriters amd Sportscasters dinner to be held at Manchester Post 79 American Legion.

“Don ‘Ducky’ Mead, first-year basketball coach at Nashua High who has revolutionized the game at the largest high school in the state, will be among the several state schoolboy and schoolgirl coaches to be honored at the affair.”

Also in that day’s Telegraph:

“The Fairgrounds Junior High baseball team has won its league playoff by defeating Milford JHS 11-1 in the finals held recently.

“… Frankie Anderson pitched the Falcons to the win, following Mike Houle’s no-hitter against Bedford.”

JUNE 18, 2017 – “There’s still a lot of quarterback left in former Patriots signal caller and current radio analyst Scott Zolak, as fans at Holman Stadium discovered when he tossed a football for his ceremonial first pitch from the mound on Saturday night.

So it should come as no surprise that Zolak agrees with the theory of keeping New England backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo around as long as possible.

“I’d keep him as long as I can,” Zolak said just prior to Saturday’s festivities. “You kind of have that ace in your back pocket. The franchise tag is there as long as you need it. But Jimmy’s not a stupid kid. He and Tom (Brady) have the same agent, Don Yee, which makes it a little unique as it is.

“… Jimmy’s got a great situation here. (Tom) Brady could take one in the leg. … I’ve been saying this for a while, since the (ESPN Adam report) Schefter stuff. He’s definitely going to be here. Find a way to take care of him for two years. I think that’s Tom’s window, two or three years.”
