JUNE 11, 1935 – “Weather permitting, the High School team faces Lowell High at the South Common diamond at 2:30 this afternoon.

“Coach Chesnulevich’s team has met but one defeat this season and that came at the hands of the that visits here today. Anxious to avenge that defeat the High mentor sends Ray Oban, ace moundsman against the visitors.”

JUNE 11, 1955 – “Two Nashua schoolboys, Karl Foster and Richard Howard, advanced to the semifinals in the replay of the matches in the 11th annual Interscholastic Golf Tournament at Portsmouth yesterday.

“Foster, defending champion, defeated Dick Carlson of Concord, 4 and 3, while Howard entered the semifinals by whipping Jim Kendrigan of Manchester, 9 and 8.

“Replay of the championship flight of the tourney was forced when the NHIAA declared Robert Johnson of Portsmouth ineligible after he won the title last season.”

JUNE 11, 1975 – “Mike Buja of Green Meadow Golf Club, Hudson, tied for low pro honors with a 71 in the New Hampshire Professional Golfers Monday Pro-Am held at Cochecho Country Club in Dover. A record 217 golfers turned out.

“The low amateur score of 76 involved a three-way tie between Pete Harrity, Dick Dion and Paul Moriarty Jr. of Nashua.”

JUNE 11, 2019 – Four finals, four Nashua area high school championships:

Division I boys lacrosse:

“Through one half of play, it seemed Bishop Guertin and Pinkerton Academy were heading toward compelling theater in the latest chapter of a rivalry featuring the titans of New Hampshire boys lacrosse.

“Everything changed in the third quarter, though, and the Cardinals made sure there was little drama from there.

“No. 2 Bishop Guertin blanked the No. 1 Astros over the final 30 minutes and scored the last seven goals to earn an 11-6 victory and a second straight Division I championship at Bill Ball Stadium.”

Division I softball

“Bishop Guertin High School girls softball pitcher Bridget Soraghan couldn’t believe it as she saw teammate Elizabeth Ross cross home plate in the bottom of the seventh.

“I said, ‘Oh my God, we’re state champions,’ “ Soraghan said.”

” I was just like, ‘We’re gonna win,’ Ross said. ‘I’ve got to score.’ “

“And score she did. Ross’s run capped a two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh that turned the Cards from a possible 1-0 runnerup to a Division I, 2-1 champion at Southern New Hampshire University.”

Division II softball

“While warming up for the top of the seventh, needing three outs to win a state title, Milford High School softball pitcher Delaney Parker was be-boppin to the music at the Southern New Hampshire University softball field.

“What drama? What tension?

” ‘That’s how I stay calm,” Parker said. ‘I stay loose and then I can power through.’

“Parker powered through with the tying run at third in to the top of the seventh, getting the final two outs on a strikeout and fly out, with a walk in between, as Milford won its second straight Division II softball title, 3-2, over No. 6 Pembroke.”

Division III baseball

“Belmont High School coach Matt LeBlanc had the best explanation on Saturday for the Campbell Cougars’ miracle 6-5 Division III comeback title win in 10 innings.

” ‘You don’t go undefeated for no reason,’ LeBlanc said. ‘They’re very well coached, and obviously they have a heart of a champion. … They scratched it out.’

“Retiring Campbell coach Jim Gorham, whose 19-0 team won in the semis in 11 innings, had his explanation:

” ‘Meant to be,’ he said, as he leaves with five titles in 16 seasons. ‘I don’t even know what to say. … They never gave up.’ “
