JUNE 9, 1960 – “Nashua High moved a step closer to the state baseball championship by staging a brilliant clutch performance to nip Portsmouth, 2-1, in 10 innings yesterday afternoon at Athletic Field in Manchester.

“The big man in the triumph over the Division II champions was the Purple’s pitcher-slugger Tom Gondek, who tossed a four-hitter at the Clippers and capped the contest by retiring the entire side via the strikeout route in the 10th inning.”

JUNE 9, 1965 – “Led by Lance Fraser’s bat and the strong-arm hurling of Bob Boudreau, Spring St. Junior High School romped to its fifth win in a row yesterday stomping the Fairgrounds Falcons, crosstown rivals, 9-2.

“Fraser directed the Raiders, smashing two home runs and a double in addition to driving in five of his team’s runs. Boudreau twirled a three-hitter while striking out nine.”

JUNE 9, 1975 – “John Jarry of Spring St. and Terry Toth of Fairgrounds were voted the most valuable boy and girl participants in the second annual Telegraph Junior Olympics held Saturday at eh Fairgrounds Track.

“For the second straight year, Nashua Catholic Regional Junior High was the winner. NC finished with 52 points, Spring St. was second with 50, Fairgrounds had 32 and Hudson Memorial gathered 26.”

JUNE 9, 1980 – “After disappointments in both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs at last week’s Class L meet, Nashua High School’s Mike Gagne could see of oxidation on his chrome-plated reputation.

“So, before Saturday’s Meet of Champions, Gagne simply got out the metal polish, dusted off his competitive psyche and waved bye-bye to a solid field in the 1,600-meter run. The result was a scorching 4:17.5 time -nearly 10 seconds better than last week – and a 30-yard victory over Doug Jones of Kennett.

JUNE 9, 2017 – ” Milford High School softball coach Jim Rines has always referred to pitcher Delaney Parker as Houdini. Thursday night we all found out why.

That’s because Parker managed time and time again to wiggle her way out of trouble as the Spartans hung on for a 5-4 Division II semifinal win over arch-rival Souhegan at Southern New Hampshire University.

As a result, the No. 2 Spartans (16-3), who led 5-1 early on, will get a chance to defend their title at SNHU on Saturday at 7 p.m. versus No. 6 Pembroke (15-4), which edged Goffstown 2-1 in the earlier semi.
