JUNE 4, 1965 – “Nashua High’s spring football practice, interrupted by the uncooperative weatherman late in March, was resumed today when coaches Buzz Harvey and Tony Marandos greeted the 1965 hopefuls for the second time.

“By holding the drills in June, Nashua reverts to an old format instituted by Coach Harvey some four or five years ago. During those years, June was the time for spring practice. When March, 1965, came in like a lamb, a switch was in the offing. But with March going out like a lion, it cut short the sessions and they were postponed until now.

” … Dick Dyer heads the signal-calling group that’s made up of John Landry, Lance Fraser and Dick Fair, along with Bob Boudreau – a promising ninth grader for Spring St. Junior High last fall.”

JUNE 4, 1975 – “Mark Powers, pitcher for the Northwest Little League’s Tigers, reached the highlight of any pitchers’s career when he hurled a no-hit, no-run game yesterday against the Yankees.

“Mark collected 13 strikeouts in six innings for the Tigers, who won 8-0. The Tigers banged out 11 hits in drubbing the Yankees.”

JUNE 4, 1985 – “Nashua’s Bruce Christensen upset three-time national champion Charlie Brumfield of San Diego to advance to the second round of the National Professional Racquetball Tournament yesterday.

“The New England champ was ranked the same as his age – 19 while Brumfield, a past tutor of Christensen, was rated seventh. The score was 21-5, 14-21 and 11-7.”

JUNE 4, 2016 – “The Nashua Silver Knights would be hard-pressed to start a season any better than they have the last three days.

“Nashua is now 3-0 after Luke Glancy’s walk-off, game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth delighted a Holman Stadium opening night crowd of 2,258 with a 5-4 win over North Shore.

” ‘Starting here 3-0, I’m pretty happy,’ Nashua manager B.J. Neverett said after his team shook off the Navigators tying the game 4-4 in the top of the ninth.

Glancy had quite a night, with a homer, double, single and two RBIs. Closer Jake Nelson, who blew the save in the top of the ninth, picked up the win in relief. Nashua pounded out 12 hits.
