MAY 30, 1955 – “Ernest Berube, former Nashua High and Junior Legion baseball star, was named coach of the 1955 James E. Coffey Post American Legion baseball team. He succeeded Alan Thomaier. Also, the announcement of Ernest Maynard as the new Athletic Officer was made.”

MAY 30, 1975 – “Shawn Kelley and Doug Thomson, two All-Area soccer players for Merrimack High School, are among four players from New Hampshire who have been selected for the United States Youth Soccer trials in Farmingdale, N.Y., this summer.”

MAY 30, 1990 – “After 1-1/2 innings of its Class L preliminary-round playoff game with Dover High School, the forecast for the Alvirne softball team was about as bright as Tuesday’s dreary sky. Playing in a rain that would’ve impressed Noah, the sixth-ranked Broncos fell behind the No. 11 Green Wave and had coach Karen Bonney wondering how long Alvirne’s post-season would last.

“… Holly Basteels’ fifth-inning, two-run double keyed the Broncos’ big finish as they came back to earn a 7-4 win and a chance for a rematch with No. 3 Nashua (14-4) in the quarterfinals at Memorial Field in Concord.”

MAY 31, 1955 – “Elie Labombarde and Sam Abbott fired a best-ball 136 to win the Memorial Day weekend Four-Ball Championship tournament staged at the Nashua Country Club. And Russ Widener and Gene Smith finished with a net 131 over the 36-hole route to cop the honors in that division.”

MAY 31, 1990 – “The Milford-Amherst lacrosse team will make its second straight appearance in the finals of the New Hampshire Club Lacrosse League thanks to a 17-7 thrashing of Dover High School at New England College in

Henniker.

“Pete Woodhull led the way with seven goals while Jeremy Varnum scored three goals and two assists. Dave Javaheri had two goals and five assists.”

MAY 31, 2016 – “The 2016 Nashua Silver Knights reported as a team for the first time on Monday afternoon, but it didn’t take long for manager B.J. Neverett to name his opening night starting pitcher as well as his home opener starter.

“It will be Stonehill College lefty Jeremy Roberts on the Leary Field hill in Portsmouth against Seacoast on Wednesday night for the Futures League season opener.

“Once and current Silver Knight Mike Geannelis will get the nod for Friday night’s Holman Stadium opener against North Shore.”
