May 24, 1965 – “More than 400 athletes representing 23 schools around the state participated in the 20th annual Kiwanis track met, Nashua, under the coaching of Francis Tate, copped the team trophy beating the runner-up team by 15 points. Bill Faucher was the high scorer for the Panthers with 16 points.”

MAY 24, 1975 – “Paul Rousseau fired his second complete game shutout yesterday, scattering four hits to lead the Nashua Panthers over Laconia, 4-0. The Panther defense was exceptional, committing no errors.

“Nashua tallied one run in the first without the aid of a hit. Chip Discordia walked, stole second and went to third on a Mike Krueger ground out. He then scored on on a Rousseau grounder through the shortstop’s legs for a quick 1-0 lead.”

It stood up as the only run Rousseau needed.

MAY 24, 1980 – “Hollis softball fans will be readily forgiven if they seem a little confused about what year this is

“For them, it seems like 1979 all over again.

“Just like last year, the Cavaliers got off to a slow start (3-5). Just like last year, they had to come up with a long stretch drive just to qualify for the tournament. And just like last year, they’re doin’ it.

“The Cavaliers won their fourth in a row yesterday, winning 9-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning on Cathy Murplhy’s clutch two-out singe. Now 7-5, they’re inching their way slowly but surely toward one of those precious playoff berths.”

My 24, 1994 – “Over the years is has been the barometer for many teams, just not Alvirne High School.

“Beat Nashua, and good things will happen to you.

” ‘I tell you,’ Alvirne coach Mike Lee said, ‘Nashua is the team of the ’90s. We have not beaten Charlie (Nashua coach Mellen) very often. He does a great job with those kids.

” ‘But when we do, we’ve done something in the tournament. It’s a good barometer for us.’ “

“The pressure was rising on Monday, then, when the Panthers came into town riding a six-game winning streak. But Broncos hurler Andy Morgan measured up, tossing a four-hitter while his teammates played superb defense behind him in a 4-0 victory. It was the Broncs’ first win over the Panthers since 1988 – the year they advanced to the Class L finals.”
