Before heading back into the glory days, a rhetorical question:

Did anyone suspect that Tom Brady’s inner diva would burst forth once he took his talents elsewhere?

Or were we all blinded by those Super Bowl rings?

APRIL 9, 1970 – “Colleen Swamp of Nashua was the winner and high scorer of the recent mixed-doubles tennis tournament held at the Nashua Indoor Tennis Center.

“Swamp executed some fine volleys and effective service returns to accumulate her impressive scores under the Vass System of scoring.”

April 9, 1980 – “Thanks to one of the most unusual winters in recent memory, the area links are in excellent condition as golfers dig their clubs out of mothballs in preparation for the new golf season.

“‘We were closed for five weeks, exactly,’ Nashua Country Club pro John Wirbal explained yesterday. ‘Right now we have two or three temporary greens, the golf carts are going and we’re in pretty good overall shape. There has been very little play with the bad weather and Easter weekend but we anticipate things will pick up very soon.’

“The Nashua Country Club is far from the only course in good shape. Both Green Meadow and Amherst Country Club, each of which have been open for a few weeks, are also ready for some good golf.”

April 9, 1985 – “They’ll barely have enough time to check out the newly sodded infield at Holman Stadium, let alone search through the classified ads for summer apartment rentals.

“But the Nashua Pirates will be in town for the next two days and hold a pair of workouts at Holman before opening their Eastern League schedule at New Britain on Friday.”

The Pirates were advertising a package that included 10 general admission tickets to selected games, two general admission tickets to see The Famous Chicken, and two grandstand tickets for the Eastern League All Star Game for a whopping $35.
