Greenwood: Hey, James Harden, try picking on someone your own size

Floating down a lonesome stream of consciousness, wondering what more MLB commissioner Rob Manfred could possibly need to know before ruling on the Red Sox sign-stealing

accusations …

James Harden landed a rhetorical right hook on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s chin the other day. In an ESPN interview, Harden took exception to a wisecrack from Antetokounmpo in which he claimed to have chosen Kemba Walker in the All-Star Game draft because he wanted someone who might pass the ball now and then.

“I wish I could be 7-feet, run and just dunk. That takes no skill at all. I got to actually learn how to play basketball and how to have skill. I’ll take that any day,” Harden said.

For the record, Giannis is listed at 6-11, but Harden was close enough.

If only NBA players wore gloves they could drop. …

Pity the poor scribes chase dutifully chasing down the endless rumors of Tom Brady’s impending free agency. By the time that melodrama ends, they may end up with about 15 minutes of vacation time before turning their attention to Mel Kiper’s reason to live, also known as the NFL Draft. …

The Baltimore Orioles are piping in crowd noise during outfield practice to get their players accustomed to properly calling for fly balls.

Well, funky as it seems, that might prove beneficial for road games. …

Fans are providing a special drill for the Houston Astros during spring training. And Manfred must be cringing. A heckler leaned into the Astros dugout and pointedly asked if they planned to give back their 2017 World Series trophy and if Jose Altuve would surrender his MVP hardware.

An unidentified player or coach responded, “Just keep paying to come see us.”

Arrogance and stupidity are a lethal combination.

But if the Astros are inclined to wallow in self-pity, they should ponder what the Red Sox will endure in the Bronx of Manfred declares Boston guilty as charged.

TIME TRAVEL: Feb. 29, 1960 – “In notching back-to-back state championships Saturday at the Exeter Academy cage, Nashua High’s track forces scored a record shattering 50-1/2 points in topping the eight-team field.

“Manchester Central, the only team that posed a serious threat, finished in the runner-up position with 37 points. …

“Pacing the Nashua team was Charles Newman, who individually accounted for nine points. He tied the state record in the high hurdles in 5.9 seconds and placed third in the 600. Dan Breen picked up eight important points when he finished second in the hurdles and third in the 300.”
