The NHIAA Division wrestling championships are all decided, but that in some ways is just the appetizer.

The Meet of Champions in some minds is the meat and potatoes, as individual wrestlers compete for outright state titles.

It’s now a weekend of wrestling, as the girls MOC is tonight at Pinkerton Academy and the boys on Saturday, also at PA.

Wrestlers to watch on the boys side are No. 1 seeds Bishop Guertin heavyweight Bishop Kearns, Souhegan’s Jack Kaler, a four-time division champ, at 132; Nashua South’s Benny Byrne, the defending state champion at 157, and Hollis Brookline’s Jacob Critchfild at 165. Byrne and Merrimack’s Cash Torres are 1-2 at 157.

BG coach Dan Warshafsky has confidence in Kearns, whose opponent withdrew early in his Division title bout due to injury.

“I think he’s going to maul everybody in the MOCs,” Warshafsky said. “He hasn’t really been tested all year. We’ll see when he gets tested, how mentally he performs.”

Milford sent the most wrestlers to the boys MOC, an astounding 11 wrestlers.

On the girls side, BG’s Ayla Saeturn at 165 and Alvirne’s Jillian Boncore at 185 are two to watch.
