HS ROUNDUP: Split for Souhegan-Milford; BG girls win again

There were some key games on the local high school docket on Tuesday night, not the least of which were two big ones between Souhegan and Milford, plus a big win for Bishop Guertin girls hoop and hockey.
Let’s take a look:
BOYS BASKETBALL
MILFORD 53, SOUHEGAN 48
The Spartans (2-3) snap their three game losing streak by defeating the Sabers (4-3) on Tuesday night. Tyler Constable (19 points, including five three-pointers), Ben Emerson (13 points) and Ethan Szopa (12 points) led Milford’s balanced attack. Souhegan’s Wes Hickman had a game high 25 points and Sean Zerega added 14. Milford visits Plymouth and Souhegan visits Pelham on Friday.
EXETER 65, NASHUA NORTH 60
Despite a 33 point performance from Josh Sullivan the Titans (1-7) lose their second game in a row. Andre Kargbo tallied 13 points. North hosts Spaulding on Friday.
PORTSMOUTH 80, MERRIMACK 42
The Clippers, who were looking for a complete game after nearly blowing a big lead at Alvirne on Friday, returned to the area to get it, improving to 7-0. They have won all their games by double digits.
Merrimack, meanwhile, is now 4-2 and will look to bounce back at Trinity on Friday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 48, BOW 27
The Cavs stay hot and improve to 7-0 after their win over the Falcons. HB opened up the game in the third quarter outscoring Bow 21-4. Alton Williams had a game high 17 points, James Arthur tallied 15 and Dylan Kelley added eight. HB visits Hanover on Friday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 45, PINKERTON 40
Thalia Drapeau’s 21 point performance helped lead the Cardinals (3-4) third consecutive win. Olivia Baker and Hailey McGowan each had seven points.The Cards trailed 26-25 heading into the final quarter but got their offense untracked.
BG visits Dover on Friday.
SOUHEGAN 40, MILFORD 38
The Sabers (5-2) pick up their third win in a row by narrowly defeating the Spartans (2-2). The game was tied at 37 with under two minutes to go and Nayaa Dineskumar scored down low with 30 seconds left to take the lead. Milford had chance to send the game to overtime, but missed on a final shot attempt. Brynn Siska collected 10 points and 10 rebounds, Dineskumar recorded nine points and 12 rebounds and Abby Mayo added nine points.
Souhegan’sJulia Skelton, Natalie Bryan, Lanai Hickman, Brynn Siska and Mariellah Dart played well defensively, a big key.
Milford’s Shea Hansen led all scorers with 13 points, Lexi Bausha chipped in with eight with Kaelyn Gryzb, Haley Harrington, Maggie Pelletier and Maya Remella each had four.
Souhegan hosts Pelham and Milford hosts Plymouth on Friday.

PORTSMOUTH 47, MERRIMACK 29
The Tomahawks drop to 1-4 with a loss to the Clippers. Meg McCarthy had 14 points and six steals and Sophia Crooks scored eight points. Merrimack hosts Trinity on Friday.
BOW 42, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 36
The Cavs (3-4) saw their three game win streak snapped despite 15 points by Ana O’Donnell and great defense by Ysabel Ramas. Samantha Disco and Kendall Dunn each had six points.
HB heads to John Stark Regional next Tuesday for its third straight road game.
ST. THOMAS 40, CAMPBELL 30
The Cougars (2-6) fall short on the road Tuesday night. Zoe Bourque scored 13, Katie Fluet had 10 and Kenzie Ripley added seven. Campbell hosts Prospect Mountain on Friday.
GIRLS HOCKEY
BISHOP GUERTIN 12, BEDFORD 6
Haley Gagne (two goals, five assists) tallied seven points in the Cardinals (2-4) win over the Bulldogs. Others scoring were Grace Spengler (two goals), Ari Piascik (goal), Carly Green (four goals), Lilah Katz (two goals, assist) and Maddy Carroll (goal, assist).
BG visits Lebanon-Kearsarge-Mascoma on Wednesday.
