HS Roundup: Big wins for BG, HB boys and girls hoop

We’re back to busy Friday nights in January and last night was no exception as several local hoop teams picked up wins and a few suffered some tough losses. But no one was more dominant than the Hollis Brookline boys and girls teams, as their combined score vs. Bishop Brady was 102-27.

Here’s the rundown:

BOYS BASKETBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 70, SPAULDING 63

Connor McGowan could not be stopped on Friday night as he knocked down 29 points in the Cardinals (3-3) win. Eli Youssef (16 points), Luca Fabrizio (11 points) and Sam Woodward (10 points) contributed to the offensive output for BG. BG visits Pinkerton on Monday.

GOFFSTOWN 67, NASHUA NORTH 45

The Titans fall to 1-5 after their road loss to the Grizzlies. Josh Sullivan scored 15 points, Tyson Hoang added nine and Sean Battle collected eight. North visits Exeter on Tuesday.

TRINITY 78, NASHUA SOUTH 66

The Panthers (2-3) drop their second straight contest as they were defeated by Trinity on the road. Rigo Challinger paced the offense with 20 points, Francisco Rodriguez scored 14 and Daniel Karavanic collected 11. South hosts Londonderry on Tuesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 62, BISHOP BRADY 22

The Cavs (6-0) keep on rolling in the early part of the season with another decisive win, getting off to an overwhelming 40-3 lead in the second quarter. Ben LeClerc (11 points), Will McCoy (10 points), James Arthur (eight points) and Dylan Kelley (eight points) led the well-rounded attack.

HB hosts Bow on Tuesday.

MERRIMACK VALLEY 72, MILFORD 70

The Spartans (1-3) lose a nail biter and their third straight game on Friday. Ben Emerson tallied 22 points, Ethan Szopa scored 14 and Will Emerson had 13. Milford visits Souhegan on Tuesday.

SOUHEGAN 68, CONVAL 47

Wes Hickman’s 22 points led all scorers in the Sabers (4-2) win. Sean Zerega and Joe Mayo also had good performances on offense netting 18 and 12 points respectively. Souhegan hosts Milford on Tuesday.

CAMPBELL 47, CONANT 37

Adam Correau (14 points, seven rebounds), Jayden Medina (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Jeremy Rafuse (10 points, seven rebounds, four assists) stuff the stat sheet in the Cougars (2-5) win.

Campbell visits Hillsboro-Deering on Monday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 73, SPAULDING 20

The Cardinals (2-4) win their second straight game in dominant fashion. Hailey McGowan had a game high 18 points, Laura Marino collected 17 and Bridget Hill had eight. BG hosts Pinkerton on Tuesday.

NASHUA NORTH 52, GOFFSTOWN 40

Lily and Alaina Small scored 16 and 13 points respectively in the Titans (3-2) win on Friday night. North visits Spaulding next Friday.

PORTSMOUTH 47, ALVIRNE 33

The Broncos fall to 1-5 after tier loss to the Clippers. Lexi Floyd contributed 11 points for the locals. Alvirne hosts Londonderry next Friday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 40, BISHOP BRADY 5

The Cavs even their record at 3-3 after a dominant win Bishop Brady. Ana O’Donnell scored 12 points. HB visits Bow on Tuesday.

MERRIMACK VALLEY 62, MILFORD 40

The Spartans (2-1) had a rough second half being outscored 37-17 and ending their eight-game winning streak dating back to last season. Shea Hansen led Milford with 20 points, while Trinity Millner and Lexi Bausha chipped in with six apiece.

Milford hosts Souhegan on Tuesday.

SOUHEGAN 50, CONVAL 20

The Sabers (4-2) jumped out to a 20-2 first quarter lead and didn’t look back. Brynn Siska led the way with 11 points and Ella Duclos added seven. Sophie Cullen, Emma Mitchell and Natalie Deary all scored their first varsity points. Souhegan visits Milford on Tuesday.

CAMPBELL 29, CONANT 25

The Cougars (1-5) get their first win of the season when they faced Conant on Friday. Katie Fluet scored 16 points, Kenzie Ripley added seven, Mat Silver had four and Mikayla Swanson had two. Zoe Bourque played great defense for the locals. Campbell hosts Hillsboro-Deering on Monday.
