Patriots trade receiver Kayshon Boutte to Houston
The New England Patriots have traded veteran wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans for safety Jaylen Reed and a draft pick, according to multiple reports.
Boutte, whose contract is up at the end of the season, caught 33 passes for 551 yards and six TDs in 14 games last season, was a favorite of QB Drake Maye but wanted out mainly due to the fact with the arrival of A.J.Brown, his playing time would have been limited.
Reed, a sixth round pick for the Texans out of Penn State, played in seven regular season games and two playoff games last year for Houston. He fills a void for the Patriots due to an injury to Craig Woodson, while Houston needed a receiver thanks to an injury to receiver Jayden Higgins.
