It was the first busy high school sports Saturday of the new year, and a lot of locals just picked up from where they left off in the previous year – especially the Alvirne-Milford boys hockey team.

Here’s the rundown:

BOYS HOCKEY

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 13, BISHOP BRADY-MERRIMACK VALLEY 2

Just a few days after winning the Backyard Brawl holiday tourney in Nashua, the Admirals evened their regular season record at 2-2 with a one-sided win at Skate 3.

The Admirals host Goffstown on Wednesday at Skate 3.

TRINITY 5, NASHUA NORTH-SOUTH 2

The Knights got a goal and an assist from Brendon Doughty and a goal by Brendan Skelley but it wasn’t enough as the Pioneers led 4-1 after two periods.

Nashua (0-4) will seek its first regular season win Wednesday at Windham at the Salem Icenter.

DOVER 2, MHBDS 0

Dover (5-0) got two first period goals by Owen Lovering and that’s all it took to sink the Merrimack-Hollis Brookline-Derryfield tri-op to 1-3-1 despite 23 saves by Liam Gagne at West Side Arena.

The WarHawks next host Lebanon-Stevens-Mascoma on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
