They’re baaaaack….

Yes, the defending Division II champion Milford High School girls basketball team is alive and well, opening the season on Friday night later than other teams but it was worth the wait with what else, a win.

But also, the Spartans received their 2025 Division II championship rings and welcomed members of players from Milford’s previous title teams in the late 1970s, the Spartans last championships before last March. A night to remember.

Here’s your Friday rundown, not a ton of action as a lot of teams played Thursday:

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MILFORD 46, KINGSWOOD 29

The Spartans open their season with a home win against the Knights. After a 12-12 tie to end the first quarter, Milford outscored Kingswood 34-17 the rest of the way.

Shea Hansen had a game high 23 points with 14 coming in the second half. Trinity Millner collected 10 points and nine rebounds and Maya Remella pulled down eight rebounds.

Milford next plays in the Nashua Holiday Tournament on Saturday December 28 at noon against host Nashua North.

BELMONT 47, CAMPBELL 44 (OT)

The Cougars (0-3) fell short to Belmont as the game went into extra time. Kenzie Ripley led with 15 points, Zoe Bourque scored 13 while Kate Silver and Katie Fluet added six points apiece. Campbell hosts Belmont on Monday.

SOUHEGAN 59, LEBANON 27

Brynn Siska (12 points, five rebounds), Nayaa Dinishkumar (10 points, eight rebounds), Julia Skelton (10 points) and Lanai Hickman (10 points) each shared a part in the Sabers win. Souhegan visits Coe-Brown on January 2.

BOYS BASKETBALL

KEENE 65, ALVIRNE 48

The Broncos had a flat night at home, outscord 19-7 in the first period and it went downhill from there. Sean Chipfunde led the locals with 15 while Angel Kangar had seven. The Broncos next compete in the Queen City Tournament at Manchester Memorial beginning late next week.

LEBANON 44, SOUHEGAN 39

The Sabers (2-1) struggled on the defensive end as they head home with a loss. Wes Hickman and Sean Zerega scored 12 and 11 points respectively. Souhegan will participate in the upcoming Nashua Christmas Tournament.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 84, PEMBROKE 60

James Arthur went off for the Cavaliers with 31 points in a packed gym with a festive crowd. HB led just 32-31 at the half but outscored the Spartans 25-9 in the third quarter to take control for a 56-41 lead.

Dylan Kelley added 18, Alton Williams 12 and Renzo Bergskaug 11 for the unbeaten Cavaliers (3-0) Williams work on the defensive boards earned him Defensive Player of the Game. HB takes on Plymouth on the road on Friday, Jan. 2.
