HS Roundup: Tough losses for Admirals, WarHawks; local wrestling teams win

The Nashua Knights weren’t the only local hockey teams who suffered tough late-game losses. Just ask the Alvirne-Milford Admirals or the Merrimack-Hollis Brookline-Derryfield WarHawks.
Meanwhile, it was a big wrestling night with most local teams coming out on top
It was not good night result-wise at least for Campbell basketball.

BOYS HOCKEY
OYSTER RIVER 2, MHBDS 1
The Bobcats’ Nolan Swiesz scored with 2:06 left at Manchester’s West Side Arena to sink the Merrimack-Hollis Brookline-Derryfield tri-op.
Will Farrell gave the locals a 1-0 lead in the first period, assisted by Josh Kahn.
Jonny Turner had 34 saves in goal.
Now 0-1-1, the WarHawks are at Spaulding on Saturday.
SPAULDING 3, ALVIRNE-MILFORD 2 (OT)
Spaulding’s Christian Smith ruined the Admirals home opener at Skate 3 with a goal just over three minutes into sudden death overtime to break the 2-2 deadlock.
Luke Green and Chris Bozza scored for A-M, now 1-1 on the season. Bozza added an assist, while other assists went to Brandon Hiltz, Jameson Thurrott and Gavin Briand.
The Admirals set sail for Dover on Saturday.
GIRLS HOCKEY
KEENE-FALL MOUNTAIN-MONADNOCK 7, SOUHEGAN-NASHUA 0
Grace Stephens had a hat trick to lead the Keene based tri-op, spoiling the Souhegan-Nashua Storm’s home opener at Conway Arena. The Storm takes on Manchester on Saturday at home.
WRESTLING
SALEM 66, NASHUA SOUTH 18
The Panthers got pin victories by Hamir Pathania at 132, Benny Byrne at 165 and Ian McCubrey at 215.
SOUHEGAN 49, ALVIRNE 26
Seven straight wins during the match buoyed the Sabers: Jack Kaler at 132 (pin), Landon Carson at 138 (17-5 major decision), Chase Knuckles at 144 (pin), Alex Sarfde at 150 (pin), Brennon Mielke at 157 (pin) and Patrick Casey at 165 (pin).
Other wins included Micah Dibble at 215 and Gabriel Holt at 285,both pins.
For the Broncos, Mason Verrocchio got a pin at 106, Crue Anderson a 15-0 technical fall at 113, and Joseph Lydon a 6-1 decision at 175. They also got a pair of forfeits at 120 and 190.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 45, PLYMOUTH 30
Victorious for the Cavs were Kyle Leclair at 106 (15-10), Victor Lomme at 120 (pin), Guy Lafreniere at 126 (pin), Hunter Knight at 138 (pin), Will Crawford at 150 (pin), Jacob Critchfield at 165 (pin), and Phillip Berge at 215 (pin).
MILFORD 61, MANCHESTER WEST 18
The Spartans dominated with wins by Connor Hartigan at 106, Kiki Lordan (120), Max Hammerstrom (126), Cam Stickney (138), Calix LaJoie (144), Phil Wright (157), Jace Wilhemi (165), Eli Wales (190) and Jamison Noble (heavyweight).
The Spartans will compete in this weekend’s George Bossi/Lowell Holiday Tournament.
BISHOP GUERTIN 42, MERRIMACK 36 (Tuesday)
The Cards got wins by their mainstays: Bishop Kearns at 285 (pin), Austin Steinruck at 132 (pin), James Algeo at 138 (pin), Dominic Stamp at 157 (pin), Peter Cerrato at 165 (pin) and Jack Foster at 175 (pin).
All of Merrimack’s wins were by forfeit.
BOYS BASKETBALL
HOPKINTON 52, CAMPBELL 45
The Cougars fell to 1-2 despite playing well against a good Hopkinton team. Jeremy Rafuse led the locals with 19 points and eight rebounds while Jayden Medina had 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Cougars host Belmont on Friday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
HOPKINTON 44, CAMPBELL 29
The Cougars were down just four in the third quarter when Hopkinton pulled away. Zoe Bourque and Katie Fluet led the locals with 13 points each.
Campbell is at Belmont on Friday in the first game of a home-and-home.
