TOURNEY SURVIVORS: Last week’s winners now in semis

We’ve gone through one week of the non-football high school tournaments, which means as we enter Week Two, it’s time to see who is on Tourney Survivor Island.

There are 10 on the island, and two of them will be in action tonight. As for by school, there are two Bishop Guertin teams, on Nashua South team, one from North, two from Hollis Brookline and Milford, and two from Campbell.

Here are your surviors, by day of play with the number of local teams playing :

TODAY (2)

Congratulate the Hollis Brookline and Campbell boys soccer teams, who will do battle today in the Division II semifinals at 4 p.m. at Exeter’s Bill Ball Stadium.

No. 6 HB (10-5-2) has won two games, Plymouth and Pembroke by a combined 7-0. No. 2 Campbell (14-2-1) got by Coe-Brown 2-1 in the quarters. The Cougars edged the Cavs in Hollis 2-1 back on Sept. 2. The finals are Friday night at 6:15

TUESDAY (4)

This is a day full of survivors. First, there’s still the Bishop Guertin girls soccer team, and the the No. 3 seed Cardinals (15-1-2) will square off vs. No. 2 Pinkerton Academy at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Manchester Memorial. The Astros rallied from down 1-0 to beat the Cards 2-1 earlier in the season. They have yet to lose at 14-0-3 after beating Portsmouth 4-0 in the quarters. BG, meanwhile, will look to focus after a dramating penalty kick win over rival Nashua North. The winner meets the winner of Bedford-Winnacunnet in the title game Saturday at 1 p.m. at Memorial.

At the same time, a few miles away in Bedford, the No. 3 Campbell Cougars (16-1), who have won two tournament games by 4-1 scores, will face the only team to beat them, No. 2 Raymond (18-0) in the Division III semifinals The finals are 3 p.m. also at Bedford.

Still with soccer, the two-time defending champion Hollis Brookline Cavaliers have an unbeaten streak of 55 games and will face local rival Milford at 6:15 at Exeter’s Bill Ball Stadium. HB beat Milford (10-4-3) 6-0 back on Oct. 2 in Milford. The winner faces either Bow or Oyster River Friday night at 5 at Bill Ball. HB hasn’t lost a game since the 2022 semifinals.

And finally in Derry, there’s the Nashua North girls volleyball team, seeded fifth, coming off a quarterfinal win over Salem, taking on No. 1 Pinkerton (18-1) which just got bye Windham 3-2 in the quarters. Their Division I semifinal will be at 6 p.m. with the winner facing the winner of the Londonderry-Dover semi on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Pinkerton.

North fell to Pinkerton 3-0 just over three weeks ago.

WEDNESDAY

It’s a day for Division I boys soccer, and Nashua South and BG are our survivors. And boy surivive is what both did. No. 1 South (15-1-1) edged Exeter 2-1 in OT in Saturday’s quarterfinals, while No. 3 BG (14-2-2) won a penalty kick phase over Hanover 1-0 on Saturday.

South will take on No. 4 Windham, which beat Merrimack 1-0 in the quarters, at 6:15 p.m at Manchester Memorial. BG will face No. 2 Bedford, which also survived penaly kicks over Londonderry 3-2. That game will be at 4 p.m. at Memorial.

Can we get a South-BG final? It would be at 3:15 p.m.on Saturday.

THURSDAY

And now congratulate our final survivor, the 16-2 Milford girls volleyball team. The Spartans will take on No. 1 Oyster River in the Divsion II semis at 6 p.m. at, yes, Pinkerton Academy’s Hackler Gym.

The Bobcats are 18-0 but the Spartans took them to five sets back on Sept. 18 in Milford.

The winner gets No. 7 Kingswood or No. 3 Somersworth in the finals Saturday at 10 a.m.at Pinkerton.
