HS Roundup: North golfers beat South; Cards top ‘Hawks
Monday wasn’t too manic when it came to the local high school schedule, but there were some worthwhile results, including part of the Battle of the Bridge:
GOLF
NORTH 222, KEENE 223, SOUTH 242
The Titans got three wins (Manchester Memorial forfeited, did not show), including the Battle of the Bridge win over Nashua South at Bretwood CC.
Morgan Barry was the match medalist with a three-over 40, while Conor Prunier (44), Brayden Ouellette and Ben Kelly each had a 45 and Dawson Bolton a 49. Tommy Dratch’s 50 served as the tiebreaker score.
South was paced by Braedyn Thyne and Grant Imbeautt’s 47s, plus Will McKenney (48) and Brendan Doughty (49).
BEDFORD 192, BISHOP GUERTIN 194, CENTRAL 201
The Cards split the tri match, led by 37s from Joe Hebert and Aaron Ackerman, plus a 39 by Owen Murpy, and Brody Sousa’s 40. Chase Brisbois, Bennet Spots and Maria Tribou all had a 41.
MILFORD FOURTH
The Spartans totaled 264, far behind Portsmouth (188), Timberlane (216) and host Goffstown (217) at Stonebridge CC.
Jack Bastarache led the Spartans with a 43.
Co-medalists were Portsmouth’s Grey Gagnon and Turner Ledoux (38 each).
FIELD HOCKEY
BISHOP GUERTIN 4, MERRIMACK 2
Addison Dadonna had three goals – two on penalty strokes – and Carly Green had another on a corner as the Cards improved to 6-2 with a fourth straight win. Goaltending duties were split between Emma Smith and Ayla Saeturn.
Merrimack’s goals wee by Jackie Hayes and Allie Wyand. The ‘Hawks, now 2-6-1, host Nashua South on Wednesday. BG is at Windham on Wednesday.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
MILFORD 3, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 0
The Spartans improved to 5-1 with a 25-22, 25-13, 25-16 sweep of the Little Green.
Harper Anderson (four kills, eight aces), Piper Greenhalgh (11 digs, five aces), Kassandra Cupin (13 assists, six aces) and Savannah Watson (eight kills, eight aces) all were key contributors.
Milford is at John Stark on Friday.
WINDHAM 3, MERRIMACK 0
The Tomahawks were on the wrong end of a 25-19, 25-11, 25-17 sweep to fall to 2-7.
Leah Monroe had four kills and two blocks for Merrimack, which hosts unbeaten Pinkerton today.
BOYS SOCCER
CONCORD 3, ALVIRNE 2
The Broncos (2-4-1) dropped their fourth straight despite goals by Alex Drown and Colin Lechner.
Alvirne is at Pinkerton on Thursday.
