North Invitational: BG boy, girl runners both take third

NASHUA – The Nashua High School North Invitational cross country meet certainly drew loads of local and non-local talent at the high school varsity, JV, and middle school levels.
If you want to check on the local teams first, there’s both the Bishop Guertin boys and girls teams, each of which finished third as the top locals.
Exeter won the girls race with a 44 total, ahead of Pinkerton (55) and BG (115). Locally, Hollis Brookline was seventh (204), Alvirne 10th (256), while Nashua North (268), South (312) and Merrimack (348) were 11, 12 and 13 respectively.
Pinkerton captured the boys race with a 28, well ahead of rival Londonderry (70) and third place BG (122). Exeter was fourth (13) while Nashua North (155) and South (192) were 5-6. Hollis Brookline was 10th (237), Merrimack 11th (310) and Alvirne 13th (384).
Hopkinton’s Madeleine Lane was the girls overall varsity winner in 17:54.2.
Guertin’s Zoe Coler was the top local in seventh in 19:27.3. Other top BG runners were Jaylyn Paul (16, 20:19.1) and Lyla Masson (25, 20:53.1).
Hollis Brookline’s Edith Butler was the second highest local, finishing 15th in 20:18.5. Alvirne’s Olivia Cartagena was 18th in 20:30.8. North was paced by Rosalie Neveu in 20:52.6 while South was led by Ariana Marengl (29, 21:16.8).
Hannah Lapointe of HB was 28th, Alvirne’s Makenna Simpson was 31st. BG got Shannon Forsyth (33, 21:32.6) and Anna Sinclair (34, 21.39.) to factor into the scoring. Merrimack’s top finisher was Zosia Yellin (46, 22:14.7.).
In the boys race, Pinkerton’s Trainor Mailloux was first in 15:37.7, while the top local was BG’s Ethan Fischer, who took third in 15:48.3. The Cards’ Michael Studer was eighth in 16:11.6 and Samuel Prescott 18th (16:51.9). Braden Phemester was 34th.
Nashua South’s Matthew Motherway was 11th (16:18.5) while North’s top runner as Cole Burns (21, 16:55.9). Milford’s Grant Skorupan was 16th (16:40.0) while HB’s William Scott was 25th (17:08.4). Fellow Cavalier Jacob Hoesch was 36th.
North’s Nate D’Silva (27th), Owen Gagnon (31st) and Tom White (37th) were key scorers. South’s James Shewan was 39th and Lincoln O’Brien 46th.
Merrimack’s top runner was Brayden Miller (29, 17:17.3), while Alvirne’s best was Camden Griffith (72).
