HS Roundup: Broncos volleyball ends drought; BG soccer wins
Jason Lewis said his Alvirne High School girls volleyball team had nowhere to go but up this season after going 0-18 last year.
Wednesday, they started that climb,with their first win since 2023. Hollis Brookline wasn’t so fortunate. In boys soccer, break up the Cardinals. Those and other results are right here:
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
ALVIRNE 3, EXETER 2
Outside hitter Hailee Lane had several powerful kills, while Kya Maben had some big blocks.
Others who played well for the Broncos included setter Mena Lewis, Cori Sevigny (severan kills), and Libero Caroln McEthinney.
PINKERTON 3, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0
The Astros proved why some think they can win the title this year with the sweep.
Hershey Vedula had seven kills for the Cavs, while Nicole Kosakowski had a solid all-around game, as did libero Sasha Arroyo.
HB hosts Concord on Friday.
BOYS SOCCER
BISHOP GUERTIN 3, CONCORD 0
The Cards are off to a 2-0 start to the year as Trenton Cormier had two goals while controlling midfield and Tavish Keenan one tally. Liam Ireland, Josh Corriveau, and Ryan Neary had assists.
FIELD HOCKEY
TIMBERLANE 5, NASHUA SOUTH 1
The Panthers fell to 0-2, managing just a goal by Addie Borden while Meury Navarette had 11 saves in goal.
Wylie Hart, Emme Christian, and Molly Mullaney also played well for South, which hosts Bedford on Saturday.
GOLF
ALVIRNE THIRD, MILFORD FOURTH
The Broncos had 224, ahead of Milford at 257, while behind place Pembroke (216) and match winner Oyster River (212) at Whip-Poor-Will in Hudson.
Jack Bastarache had a 47 for the Spartans.
