Cavalier runners rule the day in Korcoulis Invitational
Hollis Brookline had a great cross country day Saturday, with both the Cavalier boys and girls teams capturing the Lou Korcoulis Invitational.
The event is held in memory of Korcoulis, the legendary late Hollis cross country and track coach.
The Cavalier boys had 38 points to outdistance Lebanon (52) and third place Milford (70). Campbell was sixth at 145.
Milford’s Grant Skorupan was the individual winner in 16:53.6, while HB’s William Scott was second in 17:18.4 to lead the Cavs. Thomas Howie (fifth, 17:45.8), Jacob Hoesch (seventh, 17:55.6), Gregory Buchino (10th, 18:48.0) and Aidan Curley (14, 19:13.5) were the other top HB runners.
Milford’s Joshua Coates was eighth in 18:27.2 and Colin Kirby 12th (19:00.7) to help the Spartans. Campbell was led by Landon Towsley (21, 20:37.2).
In the girls race, the Cavs totaled 40, ahead of John Stark (60), Lebanon (64) and Campbell (68).
Pelham’s Addison Martin (19:44.3) was the overall individual winner. HB’s top runners were Mae Butler (third, 19:52.5), Sarah Bauer (10th, 22:09.7), Quinn Hardy (12th, 22:36.9), Alina Szczeszynksi (13, 22:53.8), Natalie Stern (15, 24:21.2) and Sarah Hoesch (16, 24:45.3) were the tops for the Cavs.
Campbell was led by two top 10 finishers, Brianna Flanagan in sixth (21:37.5) and Calleigh Duncan in seventh (21:42.4).
