HS ROUNDUP: South lax sweeps North; Alvirne stuns BG

For many local high school spring teams, Thursday was the last day.

Nashua North and South lacrosse played their doubleheader rematch, while a lot of area baseball and softball teams wrapped up their seasons as well — most notably with an Alvirne late inning upset of BG at Holman Stadium.

Here’s the rundown:

BOYS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 10, NASHUA NORTH 7

Broden Landsteiner (two goals, assist), Grant Imbeault (two goals, assist), Cody Jackson (two goals, assist), Brenden Skelley (two goals) and Owen Roy (assist) led the Panthers (8-10) offense to get by the Titans (1-17). Tyler Benzekri picked up 11 ground balls and caused six turnovers, Raiden Nuy-Chao had 18 face-off wins and eight ground balls and Jake Lynn made 13 saves.

Josh Parsons made 30 saves in net for North. Jared Gauthier, Patrick Shaw and Andrew Cullinane each scored a goal.

BISHOP GUERTIN 18, LONDONDERRY 4

Mike Ponto and Camden Hayden scored five goals apiece in the Cardinals (13-4) win over the Lancers. Owen King had three goals, Jonah Feliciano made five saves and Paulo Vazquez won 17 face-offs.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 12, NASHUA NORTH 4

The Panthers (14-4) end the regular season on a six game winning streak after defeating the Titans (1-11). Playing well in the win were Emma Herlihy (four saves), Maren Lowell (three goals, assist), Addie Borden (three goals), Karina O’Donnell (two goals), Carly Benzekri (two goals) and Briley Landsteiner (goal).

Molly Ducharme scored three goals and Devin Brown had one for North.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 8, TIMBERLANE 7

Sabrina Hill scored five goals to lead the Cavs (9-8) over the Owls and winning their last four games. Samantha Smith, Olivia Langfield and Nyah Jernberg had one goal apiece.

SOUHEGAN 16, SALEM 3

The Sabers (11-3) win their fifth game in a row on the heels of Libby Kennedy’s five goal performance. Others leading the offensive attack were Natalie Heimarck (three goals, five ground balls), Abby Giannetti (two goals, two assists), Izzy Stevenson (two goals, two assists, five ground balls), Sophie Jacobs (eight ground balls), Emmie Curran (goal, two assists, five ground balls), Averie Curran (two goals) and Meredith Heimarck (two assists). Souhegan visits Londonderry on Friday.

BASEBALL

NASHUA SOUTH 15, MANCHESTER CENTRAL-WEST 5

Jack Ninteau (three hits, two runs, RBI, three stolen bases), Nick Sanossian (three hits, three runs, two RBIs, two stolen bases) Leo DePaolo (two hits, three RBIs) and Ethan Long (two hits) led the Panthers (7-12) in their regular season finale on Thursday.

ALVIRNE 4, BISHOP GUERTIN 3

The Broncos (3-15) snap their seven-game losing streak by getting a victory over the Cardinals (11-8) to round out the season, scoring three times in the top of the seventh after being down 3-1.

Alvirne took advantage of three walks during the rally. Mike Bebris went 3 for 3 with an RBI to lead the Broncos.

BG’s Jordy Delude threw six innings allowing two earned runs on five hits and striking out 10.Nick Wyner added a hit and two RBIs.

Guertin is still in the mix for a first round home game next Thursday in the Division I tourney, but a win last night would have clinched that.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 10, LEBANON 0

The Cavs (13-3) record their second straight shutout as the win their sixth game in a row. Leading the offense were Keenan Myers (hit, run, two RBIs), Tyler Gryniewicz (three hits, three runs, RBI), Matt Bergin (three hits, two runs, four RBIs), Connor Gryniewicz (two hits, RBI), Quinn Imbrogno (hit, run), Chuck Harmon-Stone (hit, RBI), Paul Gehan (hit, run) and Jordan Morelli (hit, run, RBI). Dylan Morelli struck out 11 in five innings while allowing four hits. HB visits Hanover on Friday.

SOUHEGAN 7, MILFORD 0

Brayden Hickman struck out eight and gave up three hits in five innings in the Sabers (15-1) win over the Spartans (5-11). Drew Reagan (two hits, three runs), Matt Silk (hit, two runs, stolen base), Cam Brown (two hits, three RBIs), Joe Mayo (hit), Max Hayes (hit, run), Jack Fiengo (run, stolen base), Ethan Gaudet (hit), Brody Smith (hit, RBI) and Hickman (two hits, three RBIs) led the offense. Souhegan visits Pelham on Friday

SOFTBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 20, ALVIRNE 1

The Cardinals (13-8) end their regular season in dominant fashion against the Broncos (1-17). Racking up the box score were Sophie Bilodeau (three hits, two runs, three RBIs), Bella Nutting (hit, run, two RBIs), Meara McDevitt (two hits, two runs, two RBIs), Gabby Gillette (hit, two RBIs), Jenny Davey (hit), Deanna Miles (two hits, four runs, two RBIs), Chloe Sellers (two hits, four runs, three RBIs), Avery Zapanas (two runs, two RBIs) and Kailey Oleksak (two hits, four runs, two RBIs). Davey struck out eight in the circle.

NASHUA SOUTH 6, MANCHESTER CENTRAL-MEMORIAL 3

The Panthers (5-13) end their six game losing streak as the regular season comes to a close. Brooke Berger (three hits, run, RBI), Nikki Gates (two hits), Madison Donaghey (triple, RBI) and Maliyah Richer-Valentin (hit, RBI) led the offense. Cate Marvin earned the win allowing three runs on nine hits and striking out nine.

MILFORD 6, SOUHEGAN 4

Molly Miles (three hits) and Nadia Dutton (two hits) played well at the plate in the Spartans (7-9) win over the Sabers. Alivia Mazzeo pitched six and two-thirds innings giving up six hits, four runs and striking out eight. Souhegan visits Pelham on Friday.

SALEM 6, MERRIMACK 4 (10 innnings)

Merrimack wraps up the regular season with a 13-5 record. Bayleigh Robichaud did her best for the Tomahawks in a losing effort by hitting two home runs, driving in three runs and scoring twice plus taking a home run away from the Blue Devils.

Lily Dionne, Marissa Nelson each added 2 hits each and Olivia Burke and Allie Wyand had hits for the Tomahawks. Merrimack will play next Wednesday at home in the first round of the playoffs.
