HS ROUNDUP: BG lax gets win; Souhegan tops Plymouth

The local high school teams were back on the field, even if the weather felt like March in May on Friday as the regular season for most sports has about a week to go. There are many makeups today as well, so check your favorite school’s athletics web site.

Meanwhile, check these results out:

BOYS LACROSSE

BISHOP GUERTIN 16, DOVER 10

Owen King led the way with seven goals in the Cardinals (11-4) win over Dover. Michael Ponto and Camden Hayden scored five and three goals respectively. Paulo Vazquez and Sampson San combined to win 28 of 29 face offs with Jordan LeClair making eight saves. BG hosts Exeter on Wednesday.

MANCHESTER MEMORIAL-CENTRAL 14, NASHUA NORTH 8

Dylan Noble netted six goals in the Titans (1-15) loss. Nick Wilkinson scored two goals and Josh Parsons made 23 saves. North visits Pinkerton on Wednesday.

LEBANON 16, MILFORD 1

After another tough loss the Spartans (1-12) will wrap up their season on Wednesday at Kearsarge.

GIRLS LACROSSE

SOUHEGAN 19, CONCORD 5

Izzy Stevenson collected six goals and three assists in the Sabers (9-3) win on the road. Lanai Hickman (four goals, assist), Abby Giannetti (four goals), Libby Kennedy (four goals, assist), Averie Curran (five ground balls) and Madison Behn (five ground balls) played well in the win. Souhegan visits Bedford on Wednesday.

MERRIMACK 18, SPAULDING 2

Riley Taylor tallied six goals, an assist and eight draw controls in the Tomahawks (12-0) dominant win. Others playing well were Payton Trepaney (three goals), Lyla Carls (goal), Lexi Bell (goal), Ava Martin (three goals, four draw controls), Jackie Hayes (goal), Ava Woods (two goals), Lily Palmer (goal, assist). Merrimack visits Oyster River on Tuesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 20, ALVIRNE 0

The Cavs (6-8) had a dominant shutout win over the Broncos (1-12), led by Olivia Langfield’s five goals. Olivia Laub had three, and Sabrina Hill and Nyah Jernberg each had apair. Single goals were by Samantha Smith, Maddison Caetano, Teagan Arbogast, Elise Broadhurst, Lucia Dunsmoor, Paige Capsello, Hayden McElveen, and Sophie Wenzel. Arbogast had two assists while Capsello had five draw controls and Hill four.

Alvirne’s Fiona Duggan made 12 saves. The loss followed up the first win of the season for the Broncos, a 20-8 triumph led by Audrienna Chipperini’s eight goal effort and Cadence Bice’s six goals

HB visits Keene-Monadnock and Alvirne hosts Kingswood on Tuesday.

BASEBALL

MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 3, ALVIRNE 2

The Broncos (3-12) fall for the fifth straight game after coming up short in the comeback. Charlie Crawford (two hits, run), Jaxson Polleck (run), Jameson Krueger (hit, RBI), Alex Small (hit), Matty Bebris (hit, RBI), Logan Orr (hit) and Jayden Lewis (hit) played well on offense. Brady Mitchell pitched six innings allowing nine hits, three runs and striking out one. Alvirne hosts Timberlane on Saturday.

PINKERTON 13, BISHOP GUERTIN 0

The Cardinals struggled mightily at the hands of the unbeaten Astros in their first of three games in about a 24-hour span, all at Holman Stadium.

BG, now 8-6, will take on Dover at 4 p.m. today at Holman and then face Londonderry soon after, at approximately 6:30.

SOUHEGAN 10, PLYMOUTH 1

Ethan Gaudet moved to 4-0 on the year for the Sabers (14-1), allowing no earned runs in 4.1 innings. Drew Reagan went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a double, plus a stolen base to pace the offense. Brayden Hickman had a double and an RBI, while Mike Fiengo had a single and an RBI and scored two runs.

Souhegan will be at Milford next Thursday.

SOFTBALL

LONDONDERRY 12, NASHUA SOUTH 1

The Panthers (4-12) lose their fifth straight game after visiting the Lancers. Brooke Berger had two hits plus a great catch in left field.

South hosts Winnacunnet on Wednesday.

MERRIMACK 9, BEDFORD 1

Lily Dionne dominated at the plate racking up three hits and three RBIs in the Tomahawks (12-4) win. Dionne also pitched a complete game and allowed four hits. Cam Bellen and Marissa Nelson had two hits apiece, while Savannah Hansen added a hit and two RBIs. Merrimack visits Nashua North on Wednesday.

COE-BROWN 24, MILFORD 7

The Spartans (5-7) held a 5-0 lead until Coe-Brown’s bats got hot. Mya Coombs (two hits, two RBIs), Molly Miles (home run) and Stella Thibodeau (RBI) played well at the plate. Coombs pitched three scoreless innings and Miles came in the fifth to finish the game. Milford visits Sanborn on Tuesday.

GIRLS TENNIS

NASHUA SOUTH 6, SALEM 3

The Panthers took four of six singles and two of three doubles to finish the regular season 9-5. Singles winners were Krina Dani (8-4), Saanvi Pruturu (8-2), Hannah Jacobs (8-6) and Riya Shroff (8-1). Dani/Jacobs (8-6) and Shroff/Gowri Akeneni (8-1) provided the difference.

South will now await the tournament pairings early this coming week.

HANOVER 6, BISHOP GUERTIN 2

The Cards (9-3) got a singles win at No. 6 by Faith Hebert and Georgie Howell/Lydia Miller won at No. 2 doubles, but BG’s nine-match win streak was snapped.

They’ll now resume a 3-3 suspended match with Pinkerton this morning at 9 and then face Manchester Memorial, at the conclusion of the match vs. the Astros to wind up the regualar season. Both matches are at BG.
