HS Roundup: HB boys tennis stays unbeaten; BG girls win

It’s the home stretch for local high school tennis, and a lot of eyes should be on the Hollis Brookline boys, who remain unbeaten and are a legit title contenders in Division II. In Division I the BG girls stayed hot.
Tuesday was a day for mixed results in softball and there was an all-local matchup; in boys lacrosse. Bishop Guertin remains hot and cold in baseball.
Here’s a look:
BOYS TENNIS
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 8, SOUHEGAN 1
The Cavaliers may be the best team in the area as well as Division II. Arjun Inakollu (8-4), Ronan Finnegan (8-2), John Torpey (8-6), Greyson McSeveney (9-7), Samuel Anthony (8-3) and Dylan Legrow (8-3) all prevailed in a singles sweep.
Torpey/McSeveney (8-5) and Eli Mazzola/Samuel Pistor (8-5) won in doubles. Souhegan’s team of Brian Goddard/Balthazar Glover got the Sabers’ lone win, 8-2.
BISHOP GUERTIN 8, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 1
The Cards handled the Little Green taking five of six singles. BG winners were Jack Kostanek (8-2), Evan Deyai (8-3), Jonny Parrott (8-5), Maxx Lizotte (8-6) and Austin Steinruck (8-3).
The doubles teams of Kostansek/Max Moynihan (8-4), Deyak/Lizotte (9-8, 8-6) and Parrott/Steinruck (8-3) all prevailed.
MERRIMACK 8, COE-BROWN 1
Mikhail Agapov (8-4), Leon Rossman (8-0), Nithin Sathappan (8-2), Jeremy Nigen (8-2), Felix Rattunde (8-2) and Lucas Goldberg (8-0) paced a singles sweep for the ‘Hawks.
Agapov/Rossman (8-5) and Drew Bergen/Patrick Macisaac (8-4) prevailed in doubles.
GIRLS TENNIS
BISHOP GUERTIN 8, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 1
Georgie Howell (8-3), Jacki Krisciunas (8-2),Lydia Miller (8-1), Dayana Cotito (8-3) and Faith Hebert (8-0) all won in singles and the Cards also swept doubles for their seventh win in row. Now 7-2, they host Pinkerton on Thursday.
SOFTBALL
GOFFSTOWN 7, NASHUA SOUTH 0
The Grizzlies got five runs in the first inning to handle the Panthers (4-8) and Sophia Roussel tossed a shutout over five innings.
Cate Marvin took the loss in the circle for South, whle Alexa Ross also pitched. Marvin, Nicki Gates and Cara Leblond each had a hit for South, which has its third game in three days today vs. Keene.
WINNACUNNET 18, BISHOP GUERTIN 6
The Cards had a down day, letting a four-run lead slip away. Jenny Davey struggled in the circle allowing 10 runs (eight earned) on 11 hits, as did Avery Zapenas (eight runs on five hits over two-thirds of an inning).
BG managed 10 hits, with Meara McDevitt leading the way with two RBIs. Gabby Gillette Bella Nutting and Zapenas each had two hits for the Cards.
MERRIMACK 7, EXETER 5
The Tomahawks rallied from five runs down to improve to 7-4. Marissa Nelson got her fifth win in the circle, tossing a complete game one contes after one-hitting Alvirne. Cam Bellen led the offense with two hits and three runs scored while Nelson and Bayleigh Rochiaud got two hits and Live Bure and Julia Hoag added hits. Merrimack takes on Concord today.
LACONIA 3, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1
The Cavs couldn’t get their offense going in Laconia. Their lone hit and run scored was by Sophia Brickner.
BASEBALL
WINNACUNNET 7, BISHOP GUERTIN 5
Bennett Spotts pitched well for the Cardinals, allowing one hit and one unearned run over five frames while Gavin Santos (2 for 4, run, RBI, stolen base) and Nate Bowen (hit, two RBIs) led the Cards (6-5) offensively.
BOYS LACROSSE
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 14, NASHUA NORTH 5
The Cavs got the offense in gear, led by Sam Petrella (three goals, assist), Mike O’Hearn (three goals, three assists).
Noah Taylor (two assists), Bennett Torgersen (three assists), J.P. Torgersen (assist) each had two goals while Vittorio Masoni and Luke Kinney got a goal each. Levi Mitchell had eight saves in goal while Mason Acheson won 15 faceoffs.
The Titans got three goals by Dylan Noble, with the other goals coming from Jack Krulikowski and Patrick Shaw. Tommy Dratch and Jevon Anson, both defensemen each got an assist, their first career points. Josh Parsons had 24 saves in goal.
