They not only got wins over their opponents, they beat the rain.
The downpour began around 6:30 but the Bishop Guertin, Souhegan and Alvirne baseball teams left the diamond before any rains came with wins in their back pockets. For Alvirne, it was extra special, the Broncos’ first win of the year.

BASEBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 6, MERRIMACK 2
Ben Geiger allowed two unearned runs on five hits in seven innings to lead the Cardinals (6-4). Nate Bowen (two hits, run), Josh Wilson (hit, run) and Jordy Delude (hit, run, two RBIs) led the offense. BG hosts Manchester Central-West on Saturday and Merrimack (2-7) hosts Alvirne on Monday.
GOFFSTOWN 10, NASHUA SOUTH 4
The Panthers (2-8) drop their third game in a row when they hosted the Grizzlies. Jack Ninteau had a double and a RBI, Adam Murray tallied a hit and a RBI and Gus Smiley added a double. South hosts Pinkerton on Saturday.
ALVIRNE 7, KEENE 5
Alex Small earns his first varsity win and also leading the Broncos (1-7) to their first victory of the season. Small gave up five runs on four hits in seven innings. Leading the offense were Mikey Bebris (hit, run, two RBIs), Jameson Krueger (hit, RBI), Brady Mitchell (hit, RBI), Matty Bebris (hit, two runs), Logan Orr (hit, run), Memphis Beach (hit, RBI) and Charlie Crawford (two hits, two runs). Alvirne hosts Timberlane on Friday.
SOUHEGAN 4, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1
The Sabers (7-1) end the Cavs (6-1) six game winning streak on Thursday. Brayden Hickman, who played in the outfield but hadn’t been cleared to pitch earlier, returned to the mound and pitched three innings, allowing a hit, walk and fanned three. Alex Trudel tossed the other four frames, allowing a run on three hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
Offensively, Hickman had a day, going 4 for 4 with a homer and two doubles and drove in two. He had nine toal bases on the day. Joe Mayo (2 for 4, double, threw out a runner), Matt Silk (2 for 4,double, RBI) and Cam Brown (homer) also contributed.
Dylan Morelli took the loss giving up two runs on seven hits and striking out eight in six innings. Tyler Gryniewicz led HB with two hits and driving in the lone run. Keenan Myers, Morelli and Connor Gryniewicz each collected a hit. Myers stole multiple bases. Souhegan visits Pelham and HB visits Laconia on Friday.
BISHOP BRADY 6, CAMPBELL 4
The Cougars (4-2) lose a close battle with Bishop Brady. Braydon White drove in two runs to lead the locals. Luke Delia allowed three runs over four innings on the mound. Campbell hosts Somersworth on Monday.
SOFTBALL
MERRIMACK 6, BISHOP GUERTIN 3
The Tomahawks (5-4) grab a big win at home against the Cardinals (8-2) on Thursday. Lily Dionne earned the win giving up seven hits and two earned runs over seven innings and striking out four. Cam Bellen led the way Merrimack tallying a double and two RBIs, Julia Hoag had two hits in the bottom of the lineup and Bayleigh Robichaud had a key double in the win. Avery Zapanas took the loss surrendering five runs on three hits and striking out two in one inning. Deanna Miles and Jenny Davey (two hits) each drove in one run. Merrimack visits Alvirne and BG hosts Spaulding on Monday.
SALEM 13, NASHUA SOUTH 0
The Panthers (3-7) were shutout by the Blue Devils on Thursday afternoon. Cate Marvin took the loss throwing six innings and allowing 13 runs on 18 hits. Brooke Berger and Charlotte Primeau collected one hit apiece. South visits Nashua North on Monday.
BOYS LACROSSE
KENNETT 15, MILFORD 1
The Spartans (0-6) continue to find their first win of the season after a decisive loss. Milford hosts Gilford on Friday.
MERRIMACK 10, WINDHAM 6
Max Giles had a four goal and one assist performance to lead the Tomahawks (7-4) past the Jaguars. Gabe Gorman (two goals, assist), Henry Tobin (goal), Peyton Connelly (goal), Sean Anderson (two goals) and Mason Tremblay (13 saves) played well in the win. Merrimack visits Concord on Monday.

Jeet Panchal picked up the lone win for the Titans (3-5). North visits Bedford on Friday.
PORTSMOUTH 9, ALVIRNE 0
The Broncos lose their fourth straight match in a row after they fall to the Clippers. Alvirne visits Oyster River on Wednesday.
GIRLS TENNIS
BISHOP GUERTIN 7, NASHUA SOUTH 2
The Cardinals (5-2) saw singles wins from Gracie Howell (8-3), Sofia Zielinski (8-4), Lydia Miller (8-3) and Faith Herbert (8-0). Doubles winners were Georgie Howell/Miller (8-6), Zielinski/Jaclyn Kriscunas (8-4) and Herbert/Grace Slocumb (8-3). The Panthers (4-3) had wins from Saanvi Praturu (9-7) and Ananya Arun (8-0). BG hosts Manchester Memorial and South visits Manchester Central on Friday.
NASHUA NORTH 7, DOVER 2
Mary Pappas (8-4), Brielle Baxter (8-4), Mariana Cajigas (8-5), Leena Srinivas (8-2) and Aleena Reth (8-5) won in singles. Gabi Desjardins/Cajigas (9-7) and Srinivas/Reth (8-0) won in doubles. North (5-3) hosts Bedford on Friday.

SOUTH BOYS SECOND, NORTH THIRD; SOUTH GIRLS FOURTH, NORTH FIFTH
In the boys event, Pinkerton (76) was first while Nashua South edged North for second, 42-40. Milford was eighth as far as top 10 locals.
In the girls, the Astros were first with 70 points, ahead of host Portsmouth (57). South was fourth at 47 and North fifth (36). Souhegan was 12th with 10.
For the South boys, the team of Daniel Byrne, Ryan DuVarney, Matthew Motherway were second in the 4×800
(8:23.52). South was third in the 4×400.
Panther Preston Bois took the pole vault relay at 12-0. Sawyer Penny was second in the javelin.
For North, Gavin Sucheckiwon the high jump in 6-0 and Darius Smith took the shot put in 51-05 and discus in 143-04.
Milford’s foursome of Logan Korthals, Grant Skorupan, Avery Wilson and Will Whitley were first in the 4000 DMR in 10:47.17. And the Spartans crew of Korthals, Whitley, Skorupan and Kenyon Sora won the 2800 Steeple.
In the girls event, South’s Sarah Witta was first in the long jump relay at 16-01.75. Nora Gautieri was second in the shot put and discus and third in the javelin, while teammate Chloe Cruz on the discus at 99-04.
South was second in the 4×200 relay.
North’s Jhanelle Thomas won the 100 meter hurdles relay in 15.38 with Tiana Brown third. Brown, Thomas, Allison and Sarah Frye won the 4×200 in 1:44.12
The Titans crew of Charlotte Wilson, Allison Frye, Thomas and Laura White won the 4×400 relay in a meet record time of 4:01.02.
Sarah Frye was first in the triple jump relay in 33-07.50.
Merrimack was third in the 2800 Steeple (Melanie Bedard, Ella Vinson, Sbrina Arigala and Abrielle Collier). Cassandra Jimeno was second in the high jump.
