HS Roundup: South girls lax and Saber baseball continue to win

A light Tuesday during school vacation week but not light for the Nashua South girls lacrose team.

The Panthers picked up their second win in two days to highlight a day in which Souhegan tuned up for its Cooperstown trip with a blowout win.

Let’s take a look:

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 15, DERRYFIELD 6

The Panthers moved to 6-1 with five goals by Maren Lowell, plus two assists and five draw controls. Karina O’Donnell added to her now triple digit career total with three goals and an assist. Carly Benzekri had three goals and nine draw controls.

Addie Borden (two goals), Saig Devins (goal, two assists) and Wylie Hart (goal) rounded out the scoring.

Defensively, South was led bh Nevaeh Eppolito, Maddie Langer, Karina Santana, Lexi McGuire and Nitzaan Alkalay in front of goalie Lilee Petricca (four saves).

South is at Pinkerton on Saturday.

BOYS LACROSSE

DERRYFIELD 19, SOUHEGAN 6

The Sabers (2-5) got three goals from Muse Cross-Swartzell, plus a pair by Brandon Silva and a single tally by Chase Wilmot.

Souhegan is at Kingswood on Monday.

BASEBALL

SOUEGAN 19, ST. THOMAS 1

The Sabers (5-0) continue their assault on Division II as Brayden Hickman led the attack going 3 for 3 with five RBIs, three runs, a triple, five total bases.

Drew Reagan went 2 for 4 with a homer and two RBIs, and Cam Brown went 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI.

Alex Trudel, who walked three times and had an RBI with a run scored at the plate, got the win on the mound allowing just three hits and a run over the five innings, walking two and striking out five.

Souhegan is set to face Dover and Concord at Cooperstown, N.Y.on Thursday.
