It was a fabulous Friday for some high school teams, and not so great for some others. Let’s take you through a busy day on the diamond, lacrosse fields, tennis and volleyball courts:
BASEBALL
SOUHEGAN 7, MILFORD 3
Alex Trudel struck out seven, while allowing no runs on one hit over six innings in the Sabers (3-0) win over the Spartans (1-3).
Trudel (hit, run), Drew Reagan (run), Matt Silk (hit, run), Brayden Hickman (hit, two runs, RBI), Cam Brown (hit, two RBIs), Joe Mayo (hit), Blake Powers (hit, run), Mike Fiengo (two hits, run, RBI) and Jack Fiengo (RBI) led the offense. Souhegan hosts Coe-Brown on Monday and Milford hosts Pelham on May 5.
CAMPBELL 15, PROSPECT MOUNTAIN 1
The Cougars (4-1) exploded for eight runs in the first inning and never looked back. Michael Grace had a grand slam and Luke Delia hit a homerun to highlight the contest. Delia also dominated on the mound, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six over five innings. Campbell hosts Raymond on May 5.
SOFTBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 27, NASHUA NORTH 1
Shayne Amico drove in six runs on three hits to lead the Cardinals (4-0) past the Titans (0-5). Chloe Sellers (four hits), Jenny Davey, Sophie Bilodeau, Meara McDevitt, Avery Zapanas, Deanna Miles and Kailey Oleksak contributed in BG’s 26 hit game. Zapanas earned the win giving up no runs and hits over three innings and striking out three.
BG visits Salem on Monday and North visits Concord on Wednesday.
CONCORD 11, NASHUA SOUTH 1
The Panthers (2-4) couldn’t keep pace with Concord after they jumped out to a third inning lead. Emily Richard had a RBI for the locals. Cate Marvin took the loss allowing 11 runs on 11 hits and striking out two over six innings. South visits Windham on Wednesday.
MERRIMACK 13, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 0
Marissa Nelson and Lilly Dionne collected three hits apiece in the Tomahawks (3-3) shutout win. Nelson also secured her second win of the season. Katie Coolidge (two hits), Cam Bellen (two hits), Bayleigh Robichaud , Haley Breault, Julia Hoag and Ashley Senecal added to the hot bats of the Tomahawks. Merrimack visits Pinkerton on Wednesday.
SOUHEGAN 12, MILFORD 7
The Sabers (1-3) win their first game of the season when they hosted the Spartans (4-2). Arabelle Danforth had two hits, Molly Miles hit a home run and Mya Coombs added a double that scored a run for Milford.
Souhegan hosts Coe-Brown on Monday and Milford hosts Pelham on May 5.
BOYS LACROSSE
KEENE 11, NASHUA NORTH 10 (OT)
The Titans (0-5) fall short of seeing their first win of the season when they went into extra time with the Black Birds. Dylan Noble scored four goals, Caleb Smith tallied two, Jack Krulikowski picked up five ground balls and Josh Parsons made 20 saves. North visits Exeter on Monday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 16, SOUHEGAN 4
The Cavs (5-0) stay undefeated after taking a victory over the Sabers (2-4). Bennett Torgersen and Noah Taylor each tallied a hat trick. Sam Petrella, Vittorio Masoni, JP Torgersen and Patrick Masoni all found the back of the net twice. Mike O’Hearn and Colin Magnuszewksi had one goal apiece. Levi Mitchell collected seven saves. Souhegan’s Matt Mullin scored two goals and Ayden McGrath added one. HB visits Concord on Monday and Souhegan hosts Derryfield on Tuesday.
BISHOP BRADY 13, MILFORD 0
The Spartans (0-4) couldn’t find the back of the net on Friday afternoon. Milford hosts Kennett on May 5.
OYSTER RIVER 14, ALVIRNE 0
The Broncos (1-3) get shutout on the road on Friday. Quintin Tetrault two ground balls and Chris Darbe added five. Kaleb Cloutier held Oyster River to two goals in the second half. Alvirne hosts St. Thomas on Monday.
MERRIMACK 9, DOVER 6
Sean Anderson (three goals, two assists) collected five points in the Tomahawks (4-2) win. Hudson Rousseau (goal), Peyton Connelly (goal), Henry Tobin (goal, three assists), Gabe Gorman (goal, two assists), Cayden Dine (goal), Nathaniel Bergen (assist) and Mason Tremblay (16 saves) played well for the locals. Merrimack hosts Londonderry on Monday.
GIRLS LACROSSE
SOUHEGAN 20, NASHUA NORTH 1
Libby Kennedy notched six goals in the Sabers (3-1) rout over the Titans (0-3). Lanai Hickman (three goals, assist, six ground balls), Abby Giannetti (two goals, three assists), Izzy Stevenson (four goals, two assists), Sophie Jacobs (goal), Meredith Heimarck (goal, assist), Emmie Curran (two goals), Averie Curran (goal) and Emma Crisman (two saves) put up numbers in the box score. Souhegan visits Pinkerton and North hosts Exeter on Monday.
NASHUA SOUTH 13, CONCORD 5
Addie Borden and Maren Lowell (three assists) paced the Panthers (4-1) offense with four goals apiece. Saige Devins (three goals, three assists), Karina O’Donnell (goal), Carly Benzekri (goal) and Wylie Hart (assist) added to the locals offense. Nevaeh Eppolito, Karina Santana, Lexi McGuire, Nitzann Alkalay and Maddie Langer led the defensive unit. South visits Salem on Monday.
OYSTER RIVER 21, ALVIRNE 2
Fiona Duggan stood tall in net securing 29 saves in the Broncos (0-6) loss on Friday. Cadence Bice and Adrianna Reilly each scored a goal. Alvirne visits Winnacunnet on May 5.
BOYS TENNIS
KEENE 5, NASHUA NORTH 4
The Titans (3-3) slip up against the Black Birds. Connor McInerney (8-0), Domingo Reynoso (8-4) and Jeet Panchal (8-3) won in singles. Navein Sribalaharan/McInerney (8-6) picked up the lone win in doubles.
North hosts Londonderry on May 5.
LEBANON 5, MERRIMACK 4
The Tomahawks (3-4) lose their third straight match on Friday. Leon Rossman (8-3), Jermey Nigen (8-6) and Carter Theriault (8-0) won their singles matches. Drew Bergen/Connor Minor (8-4) won in doubles. Merrimack visits Coe-Brown on May 5.
GIRLS TENNIS
NASHUA NORTH 6, KEENE 3
The Titans took four of six singles and then two of three doubles for the win. Singles winners were Mary Pappas (9-7), Brielle Baxter (8-6), Mariana Cajigas (9-7) and Aleena Reth (8-3).
The doubles teams of Desjardins/Cajigas (8-2) and Reth/Yelin Kim (8-4) came out on top.
ALVIRNE 9, BOW 0
Taking wins for the Broncos (6-1) in singles were Emma Copp (8-2), Lilly Belmore (8-4), Zailyn O’Leary (8-6), Ella Proulx (8-1), Aliana Giroux (8-3) and Auri Anderson (8-2). Copp/Belmore (9-7), Proulx/Giroux (8-4) and O’Leary/Anderson (8-2) won in doubles competition. Alvirne hosts Portsmouth on May 5.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, LONDONDERRY 1
The Cavs move to 5-0 by defeating the Lancers 19-26, 25-22, 25-12, 25-19. Ethan Norris had a phenomenal game collecting 27 kills, 14 service points and seven aces. Jemil Patel tallied 12 service points and Matteo Morel added five kills. HB hosts Timberlane on May 5.
