HS Roundup: Cards top North; Merrimack volleyball wins
There are haves and have-nots when it comes to high school field hockey, and Monday was a good day for the Haves: Bishop Guertin, Souhegan and Hollis Brookline. Meanwhile, in volleyball, watch out for the Merrimack Tomahawks who are off to their best start in recent memory.
Here’s your Monday rundown:
FIELD HOCKEY
BISHOP GUERTIN 8, NASHUA NORTH 0
Sophie Bilodeau had four goals and Sarah runelle and Emiley Vincinguerra added two goals each as the Cards got their fourth straight win to move to 5-1.
Assists went to Vincinguerra (one) and Maddie Harrington (two).
The Titans’ struggles continue at 0-6. They host Pinkerton on Wednesday, while BG takes on Nashua South on Wednesday at Stellos Stadium.
SALEM 4, NASHUA SOUTH 0
Meury Navarette had 12 saves in goal for the Panthers, who fell to 1-5. South faces Guertin on Wednesday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 8, MILFORD 0
The Cavaliers improved to 5-0 as Sabrina Hill led the way with three goals.Anna McGuirk added a pair while Caroline Crawford, Emily Tebbetts and Addison Marchant had one each.
Assists went to Nyah Jernberg and Ashley Disco.
HB is at Hanover while Milford (0-6) is at Pelahm on Wednesday.
SOUHEGAN 3, KENNETT 0
The Sabers (3-2) won their third straight as Caitlin Ridings, Hanalia Dykstra and Ori Dart scored with Eme Godin getting an assist. Amelia Warecki had four saves in goal.
The Sabers host Derryfield on Wednesday.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
BEDFORD 3, NASHUA SOUTH 0
The Panthers suffered their first loss of the season (3-1) by a 25-12, 26-24, 25-10 sweep.
Mia Suljic led the Panthers with 12 kills and six digs, while Hayleigh Hicks added five kills. South is at Portsmouth on Wednesday.
EXETER 3, NASHUA NORTH 1
The Titans fell to 3-2, despite some great serving by Ruby Zeman to try to keep the Titans alive in the fourth set.
North hosts Salem on Wednesday.
MERRIMACK 3, PORTSMOUTH 1
The Tomahawks bounced back from their first loss to raise their record to 4-1 with set scores of 26-28, 25-14, 25-17, 25-10.
Rachel Flett had 12 kills, eight aces, and nine digs while Amelia Walker had 10 kills and Leah Monroe eight. Noor Eldeib had 20 assists and eight aces.
Merrimack visits Londonderry on Wednesday.
TIMBERLANE 3,ALVIRNE 1
The young Broncos fell to 0-5, and will try for their first win on Wednesday at Pinkerton.
GOLF
BISHOP GUERTIN THIRD IN QUAD MATCH
The Cards totaled 201 at Rochester Country Club in a match won by Bedford (186) while Concord was second (192) and host Spaulding fourth (210).
Chase Brisebois shot a 37 to lead BG, while Joe Hebert had a 39 and Nik Dapcik fired a 40.
MILFORD FOURTH IN QUAD MATCH
The Spartans totaled 252 points, far behind Portsmouth’s 190 and 12 shots behind third place Pembroke. Jack Bastarnach had a 44 and Will O’Connell a 48 to pace the Spartans.
