JUNE DAYS & NIGHTS: Here’s your early summer sports guide

By Tom King - Staff Writer | Jun 1, 2026

We told you once that when President’s Day comes in February, you blink and it’s Memorial Day.

Well, Memorial Day is gone, and now the next two months will soar, as we already start June on Monday.

With that in mind, it’s tough to keep track of what’s going on, so here are some key June dates. It’s a much busier month than you think.

TODAY, JUNE 1

While the Lowell Spinners make their second appearance in 48 hours at Holman Stadium vs. the Silver Knights, it’s the girls high school tennis semifinals, featuring in Division II the unbeaten Souhegan Sabers hosting(repeat of last year) or Plymouth at Camp Young Judea in Amherst, and the red-hot Bishop Guertin Cardinals at Derryfield in Division I. The Cards

TUESDAY, JUNE 2

The busy season of two full weeks begins. The high school tourneys are in full swing with girls lacrosse prelims, boys volleyball prelims, and the Division II boys tennis semis that will have Hollis Brookline hosting Bow, but NOT indoors at Longfellow, as was previously thought, but at the Nashua North. The NHIAA would prefer outdoors unless it rains.

Remember, too, Silver Knights season is underway and Nashua is home vs. Vermont that night. And it’s also the first night of the Stanley Cup Finals, Vegas at Carolina. Hurricanes find the potion to end the Gold Knights’ John Tortorella magic.

WEDNESDAY,JUNE 3

The busiest weekday of the week with the NHIAA baseball and softball prelims, the Division II girls tennis finals at Dover (Souhegan should be there vs. Portsmouth), and it’s also the second Education Day Game of the Silver Knights at 10:30 a.m. vs. New Britain at HHS. Good grief.

Meanwhile, NBA fans, it’s the first night of the NBA Finals, your New York Knicks at San Antonio. We say Spurs in six.

Yikes what a day.

THURSDAY, JUNE 4

Will Hollis Brookline get a chance to take on Goffstown once again in the Division II boys tennis finals? This will be day at Alvirne High School at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, it’s a quarterfinal day for girls lacrosse, meaning games likely for Bishop Guertin, Nashua South, Souhegan and prelim day for boys lacrosse, too early to say who could be playing and where. We’ll know when the pairings come out today.

FRIDAY, JUNE 5

It will be the first Fireworks Night for the Nashua Silver Knights, usually a great crowd, great take, and the opponent will be the Worcester Bravehearts.

In terms of high school tourneys, it’s quiet except for the boys volleyball quarterfinals; we’ll see if Souhegan is playing then. Hollis Brookline is a longshot in a rebulding year.

Ahh, and in the pros, Game 2 for the NBA Finals, possibly Stanley Cup Finals, and….Red Sox at Yankees to start a three-game series in the Bronx. If you still care.

SATURDAY, JUNE 6

Welcome to the NHIAA’s spring version of Super Saturday. That means quarterfinals in baseball, softball, boys lacrosse, and Division I semifinals in girls lacrosse at Stellos Stadium, here in Nashua (4 and 6 p.m.). Division II (Merrimack?) is at Manchester Memorial (same times). There will be a ton of local teams in action this day, plus it’s also the day of the Meet of Champions at Oyster River (can’t they have this Sunday?).

For horse racing fans, it’s also the Belmont Stakes, but run again at Saratoga (third straight year) while construction work continues on the new Belmont Park.

TUESDAY, JUNE 9

The NHIAA Divison I girls lacrosse finals are this night at 5:30 p.m. at Bill Ball Stadium in You can be pretty sure it’ll be Portsmouth in Division I, possibly vs. Souhegan in a rematch.

It’s also the day for the Division III baseball semis at Robbie Mills Park in Laconia. Don’t count Campbell out of this for sure. Finally, the boys volleyball semis will be at Nashua North, but it’s a longshot of there’s a local.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 10

Welcome to Semifinal Wednesday: Baseball Divsions I (our own Historic Holman Stadium) and II (Concord’s Warren Doan Stadium at Memorial Field. Softball up at Plymouth State (technically Holderness, PSU doesn’t own the fields but maintains them), and we think Merrimack will be there for Division I, just a ridiculous site for Division I schools. Count on Hollis Brookline being in the baseball semis in Concord, we hope Souhegan joins the Cavs.

There’s also the boys lacrosse semis. Pencil in Bishop Guertin playing in them, the site now known as Manchester Memorial HS. The Division II semis are in Exeter. Longshot to have a team.

It’s also Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden in New York. Will it be a sweep for either the Knicks (doubtful) or the Spurs?

SATURDAY, JUNE 13

Another busy one. It’s NHIAA State Championship Day for baseball, softball, and boys lacrosse, plus it’s the first World Cup soccer game at Gillette Stadium, Haiti vs. Scotland at 9 p.m.

Will we have many locals playing in the high school title games? We’re thinking HB baseball, BG boys lacrosse — that will be at Stellos — and softball is a tossup with Merrimack having a shot. We’ll see.

MONDAY, JUNE 15

This will be the first day of the annual three-day New England Patriots minicamp, which often is only a two-day deal when the third day is cancelled. We’ll see if that’s the case, but all players on the roster are required to attend. We may even take a gander down to Foxborough.

TUESDAY, JUNE 16

World Cup Day 2 at Gillette (oh, sorry, Boston Stadium), with Norway taking on Iraq at 6 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17

It’s the return of Nashua James E. Coffey Post American Senior Legion baseball, with the Coffey Kids hosting Dover in a doubleheader at Holman Stadium, their home opener after they would have opened the season at Rochester the previous night. Coffey reached the semis last year and is always in the mix. It looks like for the second time in three years, Merrimack Post 98 won’t have a Senior team, but will have a Junior squad.

THURSDAY, JUNE 18

The U.S. Open Golf Championship opens up, held through the weekend at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southhampton, N.Y. It will be the sixth time it’s been there, the last not being too long ago 2018.

FRIDAY, JUNE 19

It’s possible this could be a Game 7 for the NBA Finals or Stanley Cup Finals, although we think Saturday might be the hockey Game 7 date.

Plus, it’s World Cup Game 3 in Foboro 3 p.m. Scotland vs. Morocco.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY JUNE 20-21

Take a gander over to Nashua South’s Fran Tate Track and see the annual New Hampshire High School Decathlon-Heptathlon always a big event that officially closes the high school sports schedule.

Sunday is also the final day of U.S. Open Golf, and the annual Silver Knights Fathers Day Game/Necktie giveway

TUESDAY JUNE 23

The NBA Draft takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and it could be a night of local history because Nashua’s own Ebuka Okorie will be a possible late First Round selection out of Stanford after his incredible freshman season in which he led the ACC in scoring. If he’s not a first rounder, the second round in on Wednesday the 24th.

The World Cup continues in Foxborough with England vs.Ghana at 4 p.m.

THURSDAY-SUNDAY, JUNE 25-28

The Yankees return to Fenway for a rare four-game series between the two rivals. Let’s see if the Red Sox can pick themselves up off the mat by then. But the significance of this series? It’s New York’s final appearance in Boston for the 2026 season. Wow.

FRIDAY, JUNE 26

Head over to Saint Anselm’s Grappone Stadium for the annual CHaD East-West All-Star Football Game, with a ton of locals playing in it and Merrimack’s Kip Jackson as the West head coach. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

The Silver Knights are home for their second Fireworks night and Norway takes on France in the World Cup at Gillette.

MONDAY, JUNE 29

We’re in the Knockout Stage in the World Cup, Round of 32 match at Gilete at 4:30 p.m.

That’s some busy month, huh?
