HS Roundup: BG gets dramatic win; HB girls now 6-0

Ava Suech is having quite a season for Bishop Guertin, as is Makenna Maguire for Hollis Brookline. The two helped their teams pick up wins on Friday, which also featured some other highs and a couple of lows for local teams.

GIRLS SOCCER
BISHOP GUERTIN 1, WINNACUNNET 0
Ava Suech scored with five seconds remaining in the game to give the Cardinals the victory. Jess LaCroix made eight saves in net.
BG improves to 4-1 with their fourth straight shutout. The Cards visit Spaulding on Tuesday.
HANOVER 2, NASHUA SOUTH 1
The Panthers, who endured a 90-minute bus delay, drop to 2-3 after a tough loss on the road. Natalie Thomas scored a goal on an assist from Addison Varley. Corrine Rivera made 12 saves. South hosts Merrimack on Tuesday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 5, JOHN STARK 1
McKenna Maguire recorded three goals and an assist in the Cavs win to keep the hot streak moving. Lily Bouchard (goal, assist), Marleigh Kreick (goal, assist), Rosalie DeSantis (assist), Mya Blackman (seven saves), Molly Reardon and Cassidy Engle made contributions to improve HB to 6-0.
HB now has a long layoff until it visits Plymouth on September 24.
BOYS SOCCER
BISHOP GUERTIN 3, WINNACUNNET 2
The Cardinals (2-2) sneak past the Warriors on the road. Collin Mills scored two goals and Andrew Klyop added one. Alex Haight and Trenton Cormier tallied assists. BG hosts Spaulding on Tuesday.
FIELD HOCKEY
SOUHEGAN 6, LEBANON 2
Ori Dart found the back of the net four times to lead the Sabers (2-2) on Friday. Adding to the offense were Bela Goulet (goal), Eme Godin (goal, two assists), Ella Russell (assist), Cahlin Kilbane (assist) and Handia Dykstra (assist). Amelia Warecki made six saves. Souhegan visits Kennett on Monday.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
BEDFORD 3, MERRIMACK 0
The Tomahawks (3-1) lose their first game of the season 18-25, 21-25, 19-25. Amelia Walker (seven kills, two blocks, two aces), Rachel Flett (seven aces, four kills), Leah Monroe (six kills), Lina Eldeib (five aces), Noor Eldeib (16 assists, three kills) and Jordyn McLaughlin (eight digs) played well for the locals. Merrimack hosts Portsmouth on Monday.
GOFFSTOWN 3, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0
The Grizzlies (4-0) handed the Cavs (2-1) their first loss of the season in a very close 25-21, 27-25, 26-24 sweep.
Kate Berrigan (six kills, four aces), Lolly Adair (six kills, two aces), Maggie Noble (three kills, four aces) and Harshey Vedula (two aces) played well for HB, which visits area rival Bishop Guertin on Monday.
