There weren’t too many close games involving area high school football teams, for better or worse.
Count Merrimack and Souhegan as your winners – the Tomahawks’ first win of the season — but it was tough sledding for Milford and Hollis Brookline.
Here’s a look:
MERRIMACK 27, TIMBERLANE 6
The Tomahawks got their first win of the season in Plaistow, as Sahil Mujawar threw two touchdown passes and scored another on a 10-yard run.
Cayden Dine (10 yards) and Steven Doyle (50 yards) had the TD receptions, while Nathan Sadia scored on a short TD run.
The Owls fell to 0-2, while Merrimack (1-1) will host Goffstown next Friday for its home opener.
SOUHEGAN 41, CONVAL 0
The Sabers just keep on rolling as Michael Fiengo and Ryland Raudelunas had two rushing TDs each.
Brayden Hickman added a rushing TD and freshman Cole Brandt had his first career varsity touchdown.
Now 2-0, the Sabers are at John Stark next Saturday.
HANOVER 42, MILFORD 12
Mistakes hurt the Spartans, who got 90 yards rushing from Gavin Tessier. Kadyn Tessier had a kick return for the touchdown and added about 65 receiving yards. Milford (0-2) is at Hollis Brookline next Friday.
MANCHESTER WEST 48, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 6
Jacob Velez scored the 0-2 Cavs’ lone touchdown. Cole Dunkin and Dylan Morelli had receptions of 28 and 25 yards, respectively, while Philip Berke led HB with five tackles, two for loss.
Something will have to give next Friday as HB hosts Milford in a battle of 0-2 teams.
