HS Roundup: Panthers field hockey gets first win; Cavs roll

The good late summer weather continued Monday and brought good news for most local high school teams, especially the Nashua South field hockey team, which captured its first win of the season. Meanwhile, the Hollis Brookline girls soccer team, plus Merrimack and South girls volleyball teams stayed unbeaten.

Let’s take a look:

FIELD HOCKEY

NASHUA SOUTH 2, PORTSMOUTH 0

Meury Navarette had four saves in goal for South in getting the shutout.. Scoring first for the Panthers was Saige Devins off a pass from Keegan Dolan, while Dolan laterscored off a pass from Sofia Forti.

Karina O’Donnell, Meenu Dwaraka, Wylie Hart, Ava Dergarabedian, Emme Christian and Emily Richard all played well for the Panthers, who take on Concord on Wednesday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 3, CONCORD 2 OT

It was a dramatic win for the Cards (3-1) as Sophie Bilodeau scored the game-winner, assisted by Addison Dadonna. Bilodeau and Emily Vincinguerra had goals in regulation while Ayla Saeturn played well in goal.

Other BG standouts included defenders Lola Dumont and Gabby Gillette, plus midfielders Jordan Gaebel, Maddie Harrington and Abbby Lynn.

It was Concord’s first loss (also 3-1). BG is at Salem on Wednesday.

GIRLS SOCCER

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 8, MERRIMACK VALLEY 0

Mckenna Maguire (five goals, one assist) led a blistering attack as the Cavs improved to 4-0. Other standouts included Marliegh Kreick (one goal, 1assist,) Lily Bouchard (goal, assist,) Rosalie DeSantis (three assists), Sam Disco (goal) Molly Reardon and Kiera King (one assist each).

Ellie Snoke and Cassidy Engle once again ran a strong defensive unit, containing Merrimack Valley’s speed, helped by good performances from Ysa Ramas and Olivia Langfield.

HB hosts Kennett on Wednesday.

MILFORD O, KINGSWOOD 0

It’s a rarity but the two teams played to a scoreless tie — the second straight for Kingswood. Molly Miles had three saves for the 1-2-1 Spartans, who host Keene on Friday.

BOYS SOCCER

WILTON-LYNDEGOROUGH 2, MONADNOCK 1

Down 1-0, the Warriors rallied for a 2-1 win on goals by Harry Krug and Charlie Mayez, who each assisted on the other’s goals. Ben Jacob had 18 saves in goal.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

NASHUA SOUTH 3, DOVER 0

The Panthers are now 2-0 with their 25-12, 25-14, 25-23 sweep, keyed by Mia Suljic’s 10 kills, five aces and and four digs. Among others who helped out were Molly Lecklider (six kills, 10 digs, two aces) and Elanni Romero (eight kills).

South is at Spaulding on Wednesday.

MERRIMACK 3, SPAULDING 0

The Tomahawks are also 2-0 as they enjoyed a 25-18, 25-16, 25-17 sweep. Rachel Flett led the way with 13 kills, six aces and one block while Amelia Walker (six kills, two aces, two blocks), Leah Monroe (eight kills, one block) and Noor Eldeib (23 assists, two aces).

Merrimack is at Alvirne on Wednesday.

WINNACUNNET 3, ALVIRNE 0

The Broncos are still searching for their first win after suffering a sweep. Cori Sevigny and Hailee Lane played well for the Broncos (0-3) who host unbeaten Merrimack on Wednesday.

GOLF

SOUTH SPLITS WITH SPAULDING, MEMORIAL

The Panthers beat Manchester Memorial, 222-225, but host Spaulding beat both teams totaling 216.

South was paced by Noah Soule’s 40, while Brendan Doughty (44), Will McKerney and Broden Landsteiner (45 each) and Jackson Daw (48) provided the scoring. Spaulding’s Owen Nesbitt was the medalist with a 39 at Rochester Country Club.
