HS Roundup: North girls get first win, Cougar boys rally

Football wasn’t the only high school sport played on Friday, as there were plenty of great performances. Just ask the Nashua High School North girls soccer team, which always start the year with close games and pulled one out yesterday. Or the Cambpell boys soccer team, which rallied for a win to go 3-0 in their maiden Division II voyage.

GIRLS SOCCER
NASHUA NORTH 2, WINDHAM 1
Ali Frye scored in the final minute of regulation to give the Titans their first win of the young season.
It was a nail biter, as Windham tied the game at 1 on a penalty kick late in the second half. But then Frye cane through for the 1-1 Titans, who outshot Windham.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 5, PEBROKE 0
McKenna Maguire recorded four goals and an assist to help the Cavs improve to 3-0. Marleigh Kreick (goal), Lily Bouchard (assist) and Rosalie DeSantis (assist) added to the attack. Ellie Snoke, Olivia Langfield, Ysabel Ramas and Mya Blackman led the defense. HB hosts Merrimack Valley on Monday.
BOYS SOCCER
MERRIMACK 4, CONCORD 1
Luca Kabel scored three goals as the Tomahawks (3-0) come home with a win over Concord. Noah Morrison, Ryan Cirillo and Danyil Kovryzhenko each tallied an assist with Hunter Joseph adding one goal. Sharing time in net were Armin Omeragic, Brendan Scully and Connor Boutin. Merrimack visits Nashua north on Tuesday.
CAMPBELL 3, BOW 2
The Cougars came back to take the win after being down 2-0 at halftime. Aaron Belanger, Jack Larose and Luke Delia had one goal apiece. Campbell hosts Milford on September 13.
FIELD HOCKEY
BEDFORD 7, NASHUA SOUTH 1
The Panthers (0-3) take a loss to a stout Bulldogs squad on Friday. Karina O’Donnell had the lone goal and Meury Navarette made 23 saves. South hosts Portsmouth on Monday.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 3, PORTSMOUTH 0
The Cardinals sweep the Clippers in the season opener 25-17, 25-15, 25-9. Brooke Partridge, Akira Coravos, Allison Marino and Veronica Gomez stood out in the win. BG hosts Concord on Tuesday.
SOUHEGAN 3, CAMPBELL 1
The Sabers (2-0) defeat the Cougars (0-2) 23-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-21. Leading the way for Souhegan were Juliana Koch (20 digs), Julia Colantoni (14 kills, five aces) and Alicia Kennedy (12 kills, three aces). Souhegan visits Winnisquam on Monday and Campbell hosts ConVal on Wednesday.
MILFORD 3, HANOVER 0
The Spartans are now 2-0 after a 25-19, 25-19, 25-22 sweep. Piper Greenhalgh had quite a night with five aces and 27 digs, while Beth Brooks added 10 kills, 19 digs, one ace. Abby Krulis (nine kills, two stuff blocks, four digs, an ace) and Kassie Cupin (four aces, five digs, 20 assists, one kill) also helped out.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, CONCORD 0
The Cavs moved to 2-0 with a 25-19, 25017, 25-21 sweep paced by Lolly Adair’s 10 kills. Maggie Noble (six kills, four aces) and Kate Berrigan (seven kills) also contributed.
Monday’s scheduled match vs. Windham has been postponed, so the Cavs are idle until next Friday at Goffstown.
