The Souhegan High School football team aren’t exactly rebuilding, are they?
Nope.
The Sabers rolled over Saint Thomas of Dover in Amherst on Friday night, and aside from Alvirne, were the only other local to post a win in their opener.
It was a tough night for both Merrimack and Hollis Brookline, so here’s the good and bad news:
SOUHEGAN 37, ST. THOMAS 14
Micheel Fiengo had three TDs (two passing, one rushing) while Ryland Raudelunas had two rushing TDs to pace the Saber win.
Grant Harris and Brody Smith each had a receiving TD. The Sabers were up 37-0 and the Saints scored twice during running time.
Lincoln Wilkins paced the Souhegan defense, which forced two turnovers, including a fumble recovery for Lexi Wolsky.
Souhegan hosts ConVal next Friday.
HINGHAM (Mass.) 42, MERRIMACK 6
Nathan Sadia scored a short TD, the Tomahawks’ lone tally of their trip to the South Shore in a game that won’t count in the NHIAA standings.
Sahil Mujawar and Caden Dine also played well on offense for the Tomahawks, who are at Timberlane next Friday.
KINGSWOOD 40, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0
The Cavaliers are in full rebuild mode and it was a tough opening night at home for the return of the program’s first and now current head coach, Milt Robinson.
HB will be at Manchester West next Friday.
