HS Roundup: Panthers, Cards get first wins of season

The first major week of the local high school fall sports season is underway, and Tuesday some teams notched their first wins of the year: the Nashua South boys and Bishop Guertin boys and girls soccer teams to name a few.

Here’s a look:

BOYS SOCCER

NASHUA SOUTH 5, WINNACUNNET 0

Kevin Araujo tallied a hat trick and Damien Rodriguez had two assists to lead the Panthers (1-1) over the Warriors. Aaron Kunnikru notched his first varsity goal and Angel Puma added the other. Marcell Perry and Bryce King each had an assist. South visits Portsmouth on Thursday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 4, CONCORD 1

The Cardinals outpaced Concord and picked up a win on the road. Ryan Neary and Landon Burke both scored their first varsity goal, while Liam Ireland and Trenton Cormier added one apiece. BG visits Manchester Central on September 10.

PORTSMOUTH 4, NASHUA NORTH 1

Sevastian Arango scored the Titans lone goal dropping them to 0-2. North hosts Windham on Thursday.

MERRIMACK 2, KEENE 0

Adrian Talbot and Ryan Cirillo each found the back of the net in the Tomahawks (2-0) shutout win. Luca able had an assist and Armin Omeragic was in goal. Merrimack visits Concord on Friday.

GIRLS SOCCER

BISHOP GUERTIN 2, CONCORD 0

The Cardinals (1-1) shutout Concord on Tuesday with goals from Sara Chemaly and Ava Suech. Anchoring the defense were Jess Lacroix (six saves), Meghan Hartshorn, Ava Borecki, Hadley Comeau, Paige Gabriel, Caroline Goulet and Maddi Long. BG hosts Manchester Memorial on Saturday.

TIMBELANE 4, ALVIRNE 1

The Broncos fall to 0-2 with a loss on the road to the Owls. Sam DaSilva scored a goal and Ashtyn Willard made 12 saves.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 9, KEENE 0

McKenna Maguire recorded four goals in the Cavs (2-0) dominant win over the Black Birds. Adding to the offense were Sam Disco (two goals), Lily Bouchard (goal), Kiera King (goal, assist), Kai Swart (goal, assist) and Molly Reardon (assist). Maya Blackman and Bailey Dunn combined for the shutout. HB hosts Pembroke on Friday.

CAMPBELL 3, MONADNOCK 0

The Cougars got goals by Kaylie Geiger, Ashlynn Guay and Katie Fluet with assists going to Maddie Cuevllier, and Lilli Wilson. The Cougars jumped to a 2-0 early lead and Fluet scored on a penalty kick in the second half.

Hannah Pimentel had six saves in goal for the Cougars.

OYSTER RIVER 1, MILFORD 0

The Spartans played well with keeper Molly Miles making seven saves but suffered a close loss on the road.

FIELD HOCKEY

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, KENNETT 0

The Cavs (2-0) record their second straight shutout on Tuesday afternoon. Caroline Crawford scored two goals, Addison Marchant had one and Sabrina Hill added an assist. HB host ConVal on Thursday.
