HS Roundup: Spartans, Cavs win Kourcoulis Invitational
The Hollis Brookline and Milford High School cross country teams enjoyed wins in the annual Coach Korcoulis Memorial Invitational Saturday in Hollis.
The Spartan boys totaled 24 points, ahead of Hollis Brookline (52), Lebanon (58) and John Stark (88).
In the girls race, the Cavaliers came out on top with 37 points, ahead of Lebanon (41) and John Stark (50).
Milford’s Logan Korthals was the boys winner in 18:07.2, and fellow Spartan Will Whitley was second in 19:30.4 and Chase Paiva fourth (2:03.2) as Milford took three of the top four spots.
Joshua Coates (eighth, 20:49.9) and Quinn Johnson (ninth, 20:49.9) rounded out the scoring as Milford had five in the top 10.
The Cavs were led by Jaco Hesch in sixth (20:34.3) and William Scott (seventh , 20:37.6). HB also took spots 12 through 14 paced by Thomas Howie (21:24.6), Arjun Inakollu (21:37.6) and Colin Allen (21:51.7)
Lebanon’s Annelies Hanna was the overall girls winner in 22:45.8, but the Cavaliers won it by taking spots fifth through eighth led by Quinn Hardy (26:13.9), Lucia Dunsmoor (26:39.6), Sara Hoesch (27.10.5) and Kylee Sorell (27.25.2). Sarah Bauer rounded out the scoring by placing 11th (27:54.2).

The Warriors had a successful season opener as goals were scored by Vinnie Anzalone, assisted by Harry Krug.;Korey Begley, with an assist from goalie Ben Jacob; and Josh Lord unassisted.
Jacob, one of the state’s top keepers, had seven saves in earning the shutout.
