HS Roundup: A good day for BG hockey, Milford wrestling

Wednesday was Hockey Night for Bishop Guertin as the Cardinal boys and girls squads got total opposite wins, the BG boys winnng in a rout and the girls in a one-goal game.

The night also featured a heartbreaking loss on ice for Nashua South-Pelham and a close win for Alvirne-Milford.

Speaking of Milford, it was Senior Night and the Spartans celebrated with a win over BG while there were two other all-area matches as well. To see who and how they did, read on:

GIRLS HOCKEY

BISHOP GUERTIN 5, EXETER 4

Gracie Menicci had a pair of goals while Jasmine Shattuck, Aine Kelly and Riley Goldthwaite each had a goal and two assists as the Cards escaped Exeter with a tight win.

Carly Green had three assists and Grace Spangler added an assist for BG, now 10-1. The Cards host Berlin-Gorham-Kennett at Skate 3 on Saturday.

BOYS HOCKEY

BISHOP GUERTIN 11, BISHOP BRADY CO-OP 0

The Cards (7-3-1) had 10 players score goals, with Jordan O’Hearn tallying twice in a lopsided game at Skate 3.

Other goal scorers for BG were Isaac Indarraga, Ryan Loken, Noah Cordiero, Bradyn MacLean, Cam Miller, Joe Dekarski, Sean Hughes, Dominic Trepanier and Aidan Kelley.

James Mantone and Lokkenled the assist parade with three while others with multiple assists were Mike McLaughlin and Dekarski with two each. Single assists went to Ben Sovboda, Bradyn MacLean, Kelley, O’Hearn, Avery Reed, and Sean Hughes.

Guertin hosts Bow Saturday at Skate 3.

PINKERTON 2, NASHUA SOUTH-PELHAM 1 (OT)

It was a frustrating loss for the Kings, who played well to take the Astros (7-6) to overtime.

Broden Landsteiner scored the locals’ lone goal, assisted by Brian Keefe. Riley Pelletier had 29 saves in net for South-Pelham, which next hosts Goffstown on Monday.

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 4, ST. THOMAS 3

The Admirals got back to .500 (5-5-1) with two goals by Braydon Atwood, while Mason Tomkins and Dylan Macleod each had a goal.

Kian Corcoran played well in goal for the Admirals, who host Oyster River on Saturday at Skate 3.

WRESTLING

MILFORD 42, BISHOP GUERTN 33

The Spartans won a big dual meet against a local rival on Senior Night, with pins by Brendan Mazerall at 165, Eli Wales at 190, and Colton Schuster at 126.

Milford also got three forfeit wins (113, 132, 144) and got decisions by Evan O’Connell (150, 12-10), and Phil Wright (157, 9-6).

Seniors Hunter Leeman (manager), Kyle LaJoie and O’Connell were honored prior to the match.

KEENE 64, NASHUA SOUTH 15

The Panthers managed wins by Robert Perez at 150 (pin), Nicholas Samos at 165 (pin), and Landon Levesque by an 8-6 decision at 215.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 54, MERRIMACK 9

The Cavs dominated with pins by Scout Crea at 120, Gavin Turcotte at 126, Caden Bruseo at 132, Jacob Critchfield at 150, Phillip Berke at 215, and John McCole at 285.

Merrimack got a pin by Mitchell Krupp at 144 and a 5-3 decision won by Grant Descheneaux at 138.

SOUHEGAN 30, CAMPBELL 6

The Sabers got wins by Owen Kostecki at 120, Ben Smiley at 126, Austin Silk at 138, and Sean Reardon at 190.

Campbell’s six points came on Logan Alaire’s pin at 175.
