Victory at last.

It had been a tough three weeks for the Nashua High School South-Pelham boys hockey team, but the Kings finally ruled, topping Portsmouth-Newmarket 5-1 on Monday night behind two goals and an assist by Andrew Byrne, and single goals by Gavin Asimakopulos, Broden Landsteiner and Brian Keefe.

Ryan Arnesen had two assists, while Landsteiner, Brendon Doughty and Andrew Croteau also picked up assists for the Kings, who led 3-0 after one period and never looked back. Meanwhile, Ethan Robinson had 17 saves in net.

The win snapped a seven game Kings losing streak, and has them now at 2-9 and headed to play at Pinkerton on Wednesday.

MERRIMACK 4, OYSTER RIVER 1

Eliot Medlock scored his 99th and 100th goals of his career, and Will Farrell also had two goals while Conor Dunn had two assists as the visiting Tomahawks improved to 7-2. Medlock’s two goals came in the team’s three-goal second period that snapped a 1-1 tie.

James Brew picked up 33 saves in goal for the win. Merrimack next hosts Winnacunnet on Saturday at West Side Arena.
