HS Roundup: Devins’ goal gives South win; Merrimack volleyball shocks Panthers

The schedule wasn’t exactly overloaded but it did have some Memorable Monday Moments.

For example, Nashua South’s Saige Devins was clutch with a winning field hockey goal, while the Merrimack volleyball team, improved from last year, proved it with a win over the Panthers.

Let’s take a look:

FIELD HOCKEY

NASHUA SOUTH 1, TIMBERLANE 0

Saige Devins scored with 5:31 left on a penalty stroke to improve the Panthers to 4-7.

South goalie Xiadani DeLaLima had 14 saves in goal. Roseanne Shiju, Keira Walsh, Nyah Musa and Ava DerGarabedian also played well.

The Panthers host Bedford at Stellos Stadium on Wednesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 5, MILFORD 0

The Cavs (6-2) won their sixth straight with goals by Sabrina Hill, Katrina Lee, Emily Tebbetts, Nyah Jernberg, and Addison Marchant.

The Spartans, meanwhile, had six offensive corners but gave HB seven penalty corner chances. Milford freshman goalie Ari Wales played well with 10 saves.

HB hosts Kingswood on Wednesday while Milford (1-8) hosts Plymouth on Friday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

MERRIMACK 3, NASHUA SOUTH 1

The Tomahawks (3-4) dropped the first set 25-19 but then took the next three, 25-20, 27-25, 25-23.

For 5-3 South, Mia Suljic had 14 kills, two aces and 14 digs, while Paige Oulette (seven kills, 12 digs) and Molly Lecklider (three kills, 16 digs) also played well.

Merrimack will host Salem while North hosts Keene on Wednesday.

MILFORD 3, PELHAM 0

The Spartans (4-4) enjoyed a 26-24, 25-19, 25-21 sweep as Hannah Harrington (23 assists, six kills, 10 digs, one ace) and Savannah Watson (four aces, seven kills) led the way.

Abby Krulis (nine kills, two blocks, eight digs, one ace), Piper Greenhalgh (two aces, 16 digs, one kill, one assist) and Emma Desrochers (six assists) also played well.

Milford hosts John Stark on Wednesday.

GOLF

NORTH SECOND, MERRIMACK THIRD

The Titans (210) narrowly fell to Londonderry (210) while Merrimack was third at 239.

Drew Goulet (40), Taylor and Morgan Barry (41 each), Jeff Maddock (43), Dawson Bolton and Jacob Landry (45 apiece), Tommy Dratch (49) and Conor Prunier (53) led the Titans.

MILFORD FOURTH

The Spartans were a distant fourth (267) behind match winner Oyster River (200), host Timberlane (209) and Trinity (226) at Atkinson Country Club.

Will O’Connell and Landon Pierce each had a 50 while Alex Johnson shot a 51.
