The NHIAA team tennis tournaments are slated to start next week, but don’t tell that to the Nashua High School North and South girls teams.

That’s because the postseason really starts today. The way it works out, thanks to a couple of postponements, the two teams finally get to their Battle of the Bridge match in the regular season finale with a Division I tournament berth unofficially on the line at 3 p.m. at North’s courts.

North currently holds the 11th and final spot with a 5-7 record. South, after losing to Salem on Thursday, is next at 5-8, so, unofficially speaking, the winner today is in, and the loser theoretically would be out.

There were a few more events on Thursday, including a big Bishop Guerti out-of-state boys lacrosse game, baseball at Holman, softball and even more tennis:

GIRLS TENNIS

SALEM 7, NASHUA SOUTH 2

The Panthers dropped five of six singles to the Blue Devils to fall to 5-8 and force today’s showdown with the Titans. Aranya Avan was the only singles winner at No. 4, 8-6, while Natalie Nyugen and Teresa Mathew won at No. 3 doubles, also 8-6.

Today’s potential season-deciding match is at North at an early time of 3 p.m.

BISHOP GUERTIN 9, CONCORD 0

The Cardinals picked up where they left off 10 days ago – yes a 10-day layoff- and improved to 10-2 with their 10th straight win..

Anna Perrott, Georgie Howell, Jaclyn Kriscunas, Lydia Miller, Dayana Cottito and Ainsley Flood all won, five by 8-0 counts and Cottito 8-1.

Perrott/Kriscunas (8-2), Howell/Miller (8-0) and Cottito/Flood (8-0) completed the sweep in doubles.

BG will be at Hanover today and finish up Saturday morning at home vs. Pinkerton.

SOUHEGAN 8, MERRIMACK 1

The Sabers wrapped up a 14-0 regular season, with singles wins by Callie Perrin (8-0), Ori Dart (8-1), Emma Perrin (8-1) Ellie Brower (8-1), Kayden Merriam (8-0) and Hana Nagai (8-0).

Callie Perrin/Ori Dart (8-2) and Lilly/Blase/Abby Jubinville (8-0) were doubles victors.

Merrimack’s No. 2 doubles team of Avery Cruz/Abby Koss won 8-4.

BOYS TENNIS

MERRIMACK 6, SOUHEGAN 3

The Tomahawks took four of six singles and won two doubles matches to improve to 9-4 heading into today’s regular season finale vs. Hollis Brookline.

After dropping the top two matches atop the ladder to the Sabers’ Brian Goddard 8-0 and Parker Shade 8-4, the ‘Hawks won four straight by Nithin Sathapan (8-6) Jeremy Nigen (8-3), Connor Miner (8-0) and Patric Macisaac (8-2).

Souhegan took No. 1 doubles 8-2 (Goddard/Shade) but the teams of Leon Rossman/INigen (8-5) and Miner/MacIsaac (8-3) won to clinch things.

Now 4-9, Souhegan winds up the regular season hosting Kennett with the unofficial likelihood of the winner making the postseason.

BOYS LACROSSE

B.C.HIGH 7, BISHOP GUERTIN 5

The game was 2-2 in the third quarter but the Cards couldn’t quite keep the pace to fall to 10-5.

Guertin, in fact, led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Jack Redfern, assisted by Jack Warren.

Warren had a goal and two assists while Tyler McLeod had two goals. Hudson Schmitt had the other BG goal.

Jack Redfern, Jonah Feliciano, and Ryan Baker also had assists for BG, which hosts Xaverian in another out-of-state contest Saturday at 1 p.m.

Enzo Serio had three goals for B.C. High.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA NORTH 19, MANCHESTER CENTRAL-WEST 2 (Wednesday)

The Titans captured their first win, fitting on Senior night with Devin Brown (four goals), Savanna Basford and Giavanna Mucci (three each), Katelin Munroe (two) leading the way.

Single goals were by Lauren O’Neil, Alexa Farell, Anya Seo, Zoha Noufal, Kathryn Kieley, Lila Saad and Alaina Small. All the senior scored in the game.

Now 1-8, North hosts Concord today at Stellos Stadium at 6 p.m.

BASEBALL

PORTSMOUTH 10, NASHUA NORTH 1

The Titans (1-14) still had some production offensively despite the loss.

Jayden Beaulieu had a hit and two stolen bases, leading to Cam Hayes driving him in with the locals’ lone run.

Nolan Sullivan, Zach Fisher, Owen Forcier, and Dawson Bolton all had hits on the day.

North is at Timberlane today.

SOFTBALL

CONVAL 10, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3

Madelyn Sinclair had an RBI double in a seven-pitch at-bat to give HB an early lead, which it held through the third inning. She led the way with two RBS, going 2 for 3 on the day.

Lindsey Emmons hit a solo inside-the-park homer and had two hits as well. Jenna O’Connor, and Sinclair played well defensively on the left side of the infield, while outfielders Megan Eckman, Vanessa Ferrelli made big catches to end innings. Freshman Kendall Dunn was behind the plate with two putouts at home after pitching the previous day. Another freshman, Brooklynn Olszewski gave up 10 runs (eight earned) in six innings on 10 hits, striking out two and walking six.

The Cavs host Hanover today for their Senior Day Celebration, the game set for 4:30 p.m.
