The Nashua High School North boys soccer team gave new coach Jeremy Zelanes his first career win as the Titans new head coach on Monday.
That’s the good news. While the Titans were celebrating on the soccer field, three local field hockey teams not only lost their season openers but were shut out by a combined 19-0 margin.
Here’s a look at a light Monday but the third day of the high school season:
BOYS SOCCER
NASHUA NORTH 1, HANOVER 0
The Titans bounced back from a 3-2 loss at Dover in their Friday opener with a clutch road win over last year’s Division I runnerup.
It took just one goal, by Gaurav Maharjan, assisted by fellow veteran Arthur Santos, to spoil the Bears’ season opener.
Now 1-1, North will have its home opener on Thursday at Stellos Stadium vs. Timberlane.
FIELD HOCKEY
EXETER 5, NASHUA SOUTH 0
Kaitlyn Tello had an incredible 27 saves in goal but it wasn’t enough in the Panthers’ season opener at Stellos.
Still, South also got good play from Karine O’Donnell, Maren Lowell, Lizzie DeRusha, Maddie Berthiaume and Brady Murray. South visits Keene on Wednesday.
SALEM 10, NASHUA NORTH 0
The Blue Devils spoiled the coaching debut of Zoe Fillebrown in dominant fashion. North will have its home opener at Stellos on Wednesday vs. Dover at 4 p.m.
KEENE 4, MERRIMACK 0
The Blackbirds, who face South on Wednesday, spoiled the Tomahawks’ home and season opener. Merrimack is at Concord on Wednesday.

CAMPBELL SECOND IN QUAD MEET
The Cougars totaled 60 points — Division III uses the Stableford scoring format in the regular season — second to Hopkinton’s 78 points but ahead of Farmington (41) and Moultonborough (11).
Owen Dodge led Campbell with 18 points, while Ivan Dodge had 17, Sean Coughlin 14, and Declan Sullivan (11). Sophie Overbeck was one tough missed putt away from scoring 11 as well (she had eight).
