South’s Ross leads way for locals in Meet of Champions

Soraya Ross has had speed to burn for Nashua South all season long, and she proved it in Saturday’s Meet of Champions at Sanborn Regional High School.

In girl’s competition Ross led the way with two individual wins in 100 meter (12.46) and the 200 meters (25.50). Ross was also part of the 4×100 (49.35) winning team with Emily Ostrowski, Iyana Braswell and Mia Cruz.

Alvirne’s Molly O’Donnell won the high jump (5-2) and South’s Cruz finished third. Madelyn Novak won the javelin (118-4) event while placing fifth in the discus representing Nashua North. Souhegan’s Chole Trudel won the 3200 meter with a run of 11:00.72.

Kailey Dillon was runner up in the 300 meter and fifth in the long jump for Merrimack. Dillon was part of the Tomahawks third place run in the 4×100 with Alexis Best, Lilly Ferrell and Sydney Ogbunamiri. Best also did well individually finishing second in the 100 meter and third in the 200 meter. Ava Houle had a good day for Campbell placing fourth in the triple jump. North’s Jhanelle Thomas placed third in the 400 meter, Dantia Braccio was fourth in the 800 meter and Isabella Divernieri finished fifth in the 300 meter.

Bishop Guertin’s Fiona Doherty placed third in the 800 meter and Mary-Kate Finn was fifth in the 1600 meter. Braswell had a good run for the Panthers in the 100 meter finishing fourth. Anna Simpson, Ava Martin, Jennifer Herbert and Paige Boudreau ended the day in fifth in the 4×800 for Alvirne.

In boys competition there were numerous winners. North’s Jack Sullivan won the long jump (21-0) and was runner up in the triple jump. Samuel Epstein won the pole vault (13-0) and finished fifth in 110 hurdles for Merrimack. Milford’s Caden Zalenski won the shot put event (48-8) and finished second in discus. Wil Jaques won the javelin (166-7) and finished fourth in discus and shot put. South’s Rory Olsen finished runner up in the 300 meter hurdles with Alvirne’s Jack Ashworth placing fourth.

South’s Sami Witta (high jump), North’s Jack Washam (discus), Hollis Brookline’s John Kotelly (triple jump) and Campbell’s Justin Edmonds (javelin) all had third place finishes.

The team of Dallen Noorda, Jaren Noorda, Owen Stine and Nolan Dickinson ended their day in fourth in the 4×800 for Souhegan. In the 4×100 it was Milford’s Trevor Naun, Zachary Naun, Ryon Constable and Nathan Pettingell finishing in fourth. Alvirne’s Alvin Thumi (shot put) and BG’s Nathan Fondakowski (3200) each had fifth place finishes.
